I love that controller and all, but the D-pad was just something I could never get use to. Oh, and I posted another video Big day for the site so be patient
That D pad is terrible. the size is terrible. And those buttons are not congruent with each other, and is at an odd angle. A Dpad should have an obvious place of UDLR for placement. We knew what controller you were talking about, and it's still terrible. At least the Gamecube D pad is responsive.
That controller is pretty bad, but I still liked it, just because it was so...different, and sort of like the Dreamcast controller. I think the other reason I liked it was because it made for a nice projectile during Halo and DOA3.
those black and white buttons are at such a weird angle. i know a few pro halo players that use it, just because they didn't want change. and they modded their 360 controllers to have the duke's analog sticks.
I don't see why anyone would think it is. Microsoft hit a softspot with everyone with the 360 pad (except the Dpad) IMO anyone defending the duke after the acclaimed 360 pad is just speaking bullshit.
To bring this a little closer to the original topic, I wanted to post a link to this little article on Kotaku about how Uncharted: Drakes Fortune will be utilizing HOME; http://kotaku.com/361563/how-uncharted-drakes-fortune-makes-home-really-really-cool That sounds pretty damn cool to me, what do you all think?
I can't see how this is related to the HOME service. Including 2D minigames can be done in any fashion, it's not something that can only be done thanks to home. A nice idea, but a stupid reason to own home imo. Let alone purchase a PS3 for home's "features".
Hey! I don´t have very big hands, and I think the Duke ist the best controller there ever was, period. Though the 360 comes in as a close second. I get cramps from the Playstation pads, the Controller S just doesn´t "feel" right to me, and the dreamcast had to thin and angled handles for long play sessions. The Saturn UFO was more comfortable. The big Madcatz Controller for the Xbox was nice though, as was the Thrustmaster controller, though that had some sharp angles which tended to rub sweaty hands pretty badly. The Duke though... Best there is for racing games if you don´t have the space to get a wheel, great for all kinds of simulation stuff and shooters. For my thumb, the angled button layout is just perfect. And back on topic, Sony´s online thingy - I took a look at it when it was in its preview phase. It instantly reminded me of Phantasy Star Universe, the whole futuristic lobby/planet/whatsoever thing. It´s like a typical phantasy star lobby where you meet and group up, though I´d very much prefer a drop down menu for my friendslist instead of having them run for ages until we meet up - and then having to endure endless load times until we are all in same game and back in the lobby again.
its not the angle of the buttons, that's fine. it's the black and white ones not being congruent and him saying that's good yet he bashed the gamecube for not having congruent buttons. the shape was alright, the handles could have been smaller. The dreamcast and Saturn, yeah they were okay on kiosks but holding htem actually was a hassel in a long run
Theres a Kmart near me that has had a Duke and Gamecube sitting in a clamp thingy since 2001 for a kiosk, minus the kiosk. There quite nasty.
