I use Smooth rendering on all my PS1 games. Some games improve a bit, while others look way better. I never cared about Fast Loading because, like Anti said, it crashs some games.
I always wished there was some way to set it up to boot PS1 games with texture smoothing on. I find it annoying to set it up that way every time I play a PS1 game.
They did this way because some games don't work with it enabled. Anyway, i wish they made upgrades to the PS1 driver, like they did with the DVD drivers.
DTL-H2700 just a PS1 Performance Analyzer dev card it a cool PSX high Performance ver cpu with 16MB(may be 8MB)buffer ram on board on one ISA card. and it can use CD-EMU card (SCSI HDD) that is why i say can 3x graphic can do...you can set 720x480 to Analyzer to see hardware loading.
Oh, I know why they did it. I wish they would've at least made it an option to leave it on by default. I'm not quite sure how they would've done that, but it doesn't matter. If the post sounds funky, sorry, I got about two hours of sleep last night.
Okay, so my TEST arrived and I need some help. Firstly, anyone have any idea what the warnign sticker below says? Secondly, I am using a stepdown convertor and US poerlead (as the other stickers say it is a 120v PSU in the PAL unit) however the display output is all messed and teh disc drive refuses to open correctly (it comes out a few cm then returns in a few mm). It is DTL-H30002U if that is any help.
Ignore the part about the drive error. I opened her up and foudn teh journey over here had dislodged one of the plastic parts of the drive. Got it fixed and working fine now On a side note, I hear people mentioning you can play games made as "Master discs" on a TEST unit....so is that just like a standard PS2 beta code disc? (Incase I buy any in the future)
I don't have any "master discs" to try out. I tried using loser's tool for patching ISO's and such, and my copy of Suikoden doesn't work. I'm almost certain I did something wrong, though. I think someone said they didn't even need to patch their copies. I might try this later.
I am having major confusion with the video output of my TEST unit. I use a VGA convertor to run my consoles through my PC monitor....and so far I have had no problems with NTSC or PAL (colour goes a tad weird with PAL60) but whenever I boot up my PAL TEST unit the video display is all messed (I see the game but there are red/blue/green linesshooting accross the screen). If I switch it over to black and white (on the VGA box) it looks fine.....tested it with S-video and standard AV. I dont have a composite lead.... Any suggestions?
doesn't those VGA converters run off s-video or composit output of PS2? Or are you using YUV->VGA transcoder with YUV cable? cheers
The VGA converter I am using is this one - http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=219&products_id=3166& It can take S-Video, AV and Component cables....I have tried it with my S-Video lead and my AV lead and get the same results. I have a component cable(YUV) lost in the mail that should arrive this week too. Still, I have had no problems with any of my other consoles (apart from a colour issue when using the N64 or Gamecube in PAL60 mode....the colours are all wrong...but I get a solid picture still).
there's a patch that you need to run before burn... well in nut shell anyway... never tried myself though...
are there any example pictures where i could see the smoothing in comparision to the normal rendering ?
Old article on IGN: They tested it during the Japanese PS2 lauch. http://ps2.ign.com/articles/076/076171p1.html Here they post another info on smoothing and Fast loading: http://ps2.ign.com/articles/078/078113p1.htm
MY composite cable finally arrived and now I get a perfect picture Even better than I had with my other PS2 and its setup....I've never really noticed the difference between composite and AV until now.....must buy Composite Gamecube lead....
Yup - I use an RGB Scart cable for perfect picture quality. Those AV leads that come with PS2 as standard are lame!! Component input is basically RGB so yes, you will get a very good picture.
I have a small program the can patch iso files with the master disc setting. email me if you want it.
