Yes, although you'll need to patch the disc image. It's not something I would buy a TEST unit for, though (just get a flip-top case).
patch iso versus changing the top on my unit and using a pain in the ass double or triple swap. Patch iso wins.,
I figured he'd want the disc swap, since it's far cheaper (at least compared to what I see TEST units usually sell for). Then again, I'm a cheapass.
I would NEVER stick a lamo 3rd party PS2 case on my PS2 even if it wasn't a TEST. If TEST's didn't exist I'd blatantly use the DMS4 because I found it so reliable and it features auto-detect of media.
Like I said, I'm a cheapass . I'm not a big PS2 hardware expert, either, so whichever model is the "best" (I always see arguments on the supposed best model) doesn't matter to me. If I had a spare PS2, I'd probably try a mod-chip approach if I hadn't already bought a TEST unit. As it stands, though, I think it's probably up to opinion: Buy a $250+ TEST PS2 or a $150 PS2 and a boot disc ($30ish?). I'll back down from this one, now. I don't know much on the subject, as I never play "backups" anyway.
WHY would you want to MOD a TEST? At that point you'd have a unit that is less useful than a modded retail. heh. -hl718
If you were to mod a TEST with a DMS4 you'd have to figure out where to solder each wire and it has about 20! I don't think it would be the same as modding a retail console although I can't say because I have never opened up a TEST. I use a TEST purely because I like to get import games from USA and Japan AND the console can still go online (with any region game) WITHOUT being detected by the DNAS. What more could you want? DVD movies maybe but that's it, but you can buy DVD players for £19.99 in supermarkets (Asda!)!!!
