i saw a picture and it looks like it comes with the game Jacob and the man in black play. i wonder what the rules are...
As I told you before the ending, Hurley managed to eat everyone thus killing them and remaining the sole survivor. Then fabricating a delusion in which everyone went to heaven (his stomach) and he remained as the protector of the island. Bottom line, they were all eaten
I liked it, good ending and all but I was a bit confused about what happened to Benjamin and Hurley (& Desmond for that matter) - I mean, we didn't see them all die, did we? What about the folks on the plane? Seemed kind of rushed to me for some reason. - but still a fine resolution. Got the finale of 24 queued up now... pretty impressive 24 hours of television... 8 years and 6 years, respectively, all coming to an end.
Hurley became Jacob 3.0, and Ben become Richard 2.0. They elude to the fact that they get Desmond off the island at some point, or are at least hopeful that they will. How long this happened, is unknown, but if it's anytihng as long as Jacob was around, we can assume it was quite a while. Folks on the plane, of course is a mystery, but I'd like to think they got back and were not completely emotionally damaged. I'm sure life would suck for them for a while. EDIT: I guess this is why I liked the ending. Not only do we get a sense that grand things happened for a long time after we were allowed to see, but we also got a proper ending, with plenty of closure. Not to mention that for the first time in the show, Jack was content. My only complaint was, as stated before, I wanted more about how Desmond finished off his life.
Just watched it now, some things bug me: Where was the dog in the church? Where was Michael and his kid? (I know the kid's like 17 now and 6'5" but anyway) Where was Mr Eko? Where was Nicki, Paulo, Ana Lucia (I know she was a cop, but surely they could have included her in the end) Similarly, if Aaron was there as a baby, does that mean he will stay a baby in the afterlife? What if Desmond didn't know they were all in purgatory? would they stay there, living the alternative lives forever? And so on, and so on Don't get me wrong, it was a reasonable ending, after the Jacob The Wonder Years episode and the one after that, I was dreading it, but it left so many things open, while explaining things I didn't care about. We ultimately found out nothing about the island, who created it, the statues, the numbers, the button, the hieroglyph's, and so on.
They ending was good on most part but it felt like to me it was missing an extra 20 minutes of story. It should have least shown what happened to the people on the plane. Was good that Frank came back in the end though he was a good character. I think the end going to Jack blinking was reference to the first ep which started out similar. I really did expect the ending to end with jack walking out though and seeing the plane crash again with everyone on from the start so its like an endless loop. Some questions left unanswered though. Like what did the numbers mean? What happened to the other secondary characters like michael and his son etc why weren't they in the flash sideways?
The closer it got to the end during season 6, I began caring less and less about the characters and instead was crying for more information on the creators of all the ruins and essential island architecture. Who build the new wheel? How does it work? Who build the statue, the temple, the tunnels, the home of the smoke monster, the contruction below the light? The question is WHO and WHY And what we get are hugs and kisses for everyone that has ever starred in LOST. >_> Well I guess it was a good ending after all, but it had been quite better if they'd already explained all the things mentioned above in another episode. That way we know what presumably happened to the people, but we still don't know the essential part of island history.
Michael is stuck on the island as one of the "Whispers". He basically told Hurley as much a few episodes back. The numbers correlate to their assigned candidate. Locke 4 Hurley 8 Sawyer 15 Sayid 16 Jack 23 Jin or Sun 42 The Dharma Initiative got the numbers from the Valenzetti equation but that was never explained on the show.
I'm normally too drunk to notice shit like that, I want it spelled out for me. I don't want to have to trawl countless bloody obscure websites and cryptic clues on the back of the DVD covers or shit like that. But that doesn't make sense, if Jack died on the island, then he shouldn't have been there, same as jailbait blonde, her brother, hurley's squeeze, and so on. If you take it that Jack made it to purgatory because he was one of the numbered people, then the incest twins shouldn't have been there, or the others.
Mr. Eko was offered "a hefty sum" to be in the finale and he asked for 5x that. Hence, it didn't work. Yeah, the delivery of The Wonder Years bit was awful. The story... a bit plain, but it's what I was expecting. I thought they redeemed themselves w/ the episode after. The buttons, yes. The numbers? "Jacob just had a thing for numbers.". A lame explanation, but one nonetheless. Everything else, no. Honestly, I was not expecting to get as many answers as we did. I guess anyone that does was never a serial X-Files fan. Condemned on the island for his betrayal. Oh, man. You know... the few episodes leading up to it were some of the best in the series. Jack really went on a tear and didn't give a fuck. Then... we got the same ending we've gotten every other season. They really should've just said, "fuck it, this franchise is over... let the guy die". Why would anyone take it that way? Plenty of non-numbered people were there in the church, insdie or out: Ben, Desmond, Penny, either Jin or Sun (reportedly Sun) for example.
Exactly. Don't want to get offtopic but man, what a fucking dissapointment. I mean, I think I would have cried if he died lol (he is my hero :redface but I really expected something else. Anyway I find joy in the idea that "madame" President Taylor is going to get screwed. I always hated her. I really thought the ending would be something as (or even more) shocking as the moment Bill Buchanan died on the other season, which was from my point of view one of the most shocking moments in the series.
If you're a fan of both shows, how can you not love the Lost ending after the 24 ending? I'll go ahead and say it now: A movie won't work. They should've killed him. It was the honorable thing to do. I do like the alternate reality 24 is in where all terrorists speak English with each other but with their respective accents.
Because they are two completely different shows? :banghead: Lost didn't explain anything that fans wanted to be explained. Granted, any explanation at this point would not be satisfactory (or coherent). 24 didn't need anything explained, but I think people wanted more than the vanilla cookie-cutter ending. On a side note, they already did a 24 movie (made-for-TV) and it wasn't too bad. Phonebooth used the realtime formula too, and I thought it was pretty good.
I'll take the good ending that let's my imagination enjoy the show for a while to come over the turd ending any day. It wasn't terrible. But made for TV and theatrical are different monsters.
I agree that he should have died but my real regret is that Chloe didn't somehow get a bullet to the head. What an annoying bitch.
That's an alternage ending... it'll be on the DVD... on the Lost Season 6 DVDs I think we get the alternet ending w/ Kate, Sawyer, & Miles in a Mile High Club threesome.
The rest of the crew weren't "ready" to move on, that's why they weren't on the church. Remember what Desmond replied to the old lady about Daniel?
Well I'm glad you agree with my idea! I really did expect it to happen. I was just ready to say looks like I was right then he just died and closed his eyes. I dunno I really did expect some more of a closure. I guess the reason they didn't offer any insight to the islands past and how the landmarks on the island were created was to give a more mysterious ending. So basically it left the watcher to believe what they wanted. But guessing on the Jacob and the Man in Black flashback it was that tribe or maybe another. Also its a shame Mr Eko didn't work out a price for returning with the producers.
