I deleted my best bookmarks on it a while ago. There are ways to puzzle together serials and dates but iirc the best way to know the version is the kernel (K) from the startup info. I was able to search out a good listing for those. If there is no kernel info it's a 1.0.

**edit, that's the best quick, non-invasive way, which I used for shopping. You could pop it open and find out too, but others will have to advise on what to look for.

    That was not the reason.

Serial numbers is not a good way to find out what Xbox revision you have. Best way is to either boot up softmod installer deluxe, or open the unit.

It sort of was... there was some Islam stuff in there and because Muslim people's feelings are easier to hurt than a newborn hedgehog puppy, they decided to stop selling it because it didn't do well anyways.

It was banned before the European Xbox launch so that it never made it to PAL territories, only US and Japan.

Found this, it might help if your only option is to open the unit.

I should have phrased it better, because some people said it was offensive I guess, it was pulled and never sold because it didn't do well anyway. That's what I found.

I dont know if some one mentioned it before, but "Breakdown" is a pretty good game, its a FPS but with some elements we only see in todays modern FPSes things like seeing your hands when doing stunts, its pretty difficult though, you will ether love it or hate it.

Ah, I forgot about the resize. Also my fault, my apologies. I'm on a 21.5" screen at 1080i, odd how much your image has been scaled.

Can't say for the others, but many have mentioned games I already own :p - Even though I'm thankful for everyone's input, just it's a little annoying to be recommended something you have :/

I'd also like to apologize to you for opening Pandora's box on another topic. It's an interesting discussion worth mention when recommending PDO, but you do have a specific topic to contribute to.

The easiest way to tell what version it is I've found is to just check the DVD drive and date stamp. If it has a Thomson drive it's gonna be 1.0-1.1 and have a 1mb bios unless it was manufactured in 2002, then it's probably a 1.2 (if I remember correctly), if it's a Phillips or Samsung it's gonna be 1.2-1.4 and need a 256k bios, and if it's a Hitachi then it's a 1.6 or 1.6b. I used to work at a game store and did like a bajillion mods and repairs on them; it's been a few years so I might be a little hazy, but those are the general rules of thumb.

The systems manufactured in 2003 are generally the best I've found, they have the awesome Samsung Version B drive that has no problem reading any kind of DVDR or CDR you throw at it (there's a version A that was used in the 2004 systems if I remember correctly, but it wouldn't read CDRs), and they rarely ever fail. Those early Thomson drives are the WORST, and the Philips aren't much better. The final drive they used, the Hitachi, is reliable but it's not the beast the Samsung B is. Some of the Philips and Thomsons will also sporadically read CDRs, but it's unreliable, while every Samsung B reads them. The Samsung B is just a beast of a drive, load times are quicker, it rips discs to the HDD faster, and it can read seriously fucked up discs that the other drives would give you errors on.

Just because I think it's ridiculous, here's the most common thing I had to fix on systems; the drive doors would stick on almost all versions (you know where you have to tap the top of the system after you hit the eject button to knock the magnet loose and help it open), but for some reason the Samsungs and Phillips were really bad about it. This would also cause the system to give read errors sometimes. Basically we'd take a pair of tweezers and replace the little black rubber belt on the motor right directly inside the lip and that would fix it every time (you didn't even have to open the system, just eject the tray, pull the power cord out so it didn't auto-close, and go to town), once in a while we wouldn't have any belts the right size so we'd just put a small rubber band on it and that'd work fine for a year or two, ha. Same thing happens with 360 drives. I'd just do it for people for free all the time, we used to order bags of those stupid belts since it was so common.

Good man. :encouragement: Also the original Panzer Dragoon is in Orta as well. Not sure if it's an unlockable or unlocked from the start. Essentially 2 games in the series for the price of one.
