It's not so much about you breaking the rules of this site (Getting banned/warned is one issue). Do you seriously dare to risk getting a C+D letter from SCEA, at all?

By uploading an archive containing the boot ROM of the PSP's POPS emulator, you're not only playing with stuff from a dead system (The Playstation 2), but also with the Playstation Portable... which Sony probably still cares about since it's not discontinued yet.

When Jimmikaelkael on PSX-scene made the release of the PS3MCA FMCB installer tool in 2011, he got a C+D and a DMCA takedown notification from SCEA, on the grounds of copyright infringement (Of only one source code file that was obviously not stolen but just re-constructed via reverse-engineering by someone else - mecha_emu.c).

Now, no binaries were copied in that tool's release... so what would happen if you uploaded a direct dump of their copyrighted binaries instead?

I don't know this well since I wasn't in the PS2 development scene back then, but l_Oliveira about this: When modchips first appeared... there was one team that even got sued because they had copied part of the Playstation 2's boot ROM into the firmwares of their modchip.

I see what you are saying, I know how it is. Just to let you know.. I'm not the one who made that file at all. (I just use it) and I'm sure you know that the PSP is fully hacked. (POPS emulator for PSP is fully hacked as will... but I may be wrong) Also I do not use my home PC at all for any of this.. Thanks for letting me know.

    POPStart

I made this little MAC OSX app for patching your game images.. if anybody wants to give it a try. It should work on any intel mac running 10.6 or higher.. and will add the Japanese and POPS headers to your PS1 Game images, without hex editors. There are NO copyright files of any kind in the app.. Google is your friend. (No enemy crab battles please):smile-new:

Oh Yeah.. It's my first Mac App.. and a Beta.. and free... so don't expect perfection.

There's a Windows app called "PSX2PS2". I think it's coded in VB and does not generate the TOC header unfortunately.

Since the project was canceled, I wrote another container (currently in test). It handles args from the HDDOSD and creates/mounts VMCs in/from separate folders. The original CD-ROM image goes to the __common partition for saving space in game partitions.
Concerning Codebreaker (partition suffix "_OSD1") and Xploder (partition suffix "_OSD2"), they don't work :( . Crash at game start... "CD CodePatch" freezes on boot.

Oh I saw that Tekken 3 was reported non-working in the compatibility list. Can anyone confirm this ? I did test a demo version; it was playable with a few graphical glitches and several minor slowdowns...

If not, where can i find PSX2PS2?

Nope, "PSX2PS2 GUI v1.10". Google that name to find the Chinese forum where it is posted. Basically it's a GUI that changes the partition name inside of the POC2 container, replaces the built-in BIOS with the user BIOS and inserts the Bishi Bashi header in the retail game disc image.

It has been reported that the PAL version of Wipeout 2097 freezes in the intro. WipeOut XL US version runs perfectly fine

I noticed that the cursor is a bit slow in the "Load & Save" menu. Can't remember how it is on a real unit...

shaolinassassin gave the same feedback for the PAL copy. SCED-01384 suffers of the same glitches.

I see its a GUI that does the work for you? Sounds great. The funny part is that it was posted by someone who likes Detective Conan as mush as I do. LOL

    This is it right?

    Yep that's it.

Will be kinda obsolete after the release of POPStarter revision 7, because that new container takes HDDOSD args and it's MG encrypted. The BIOS is the original built-in BIOS less the OSD and less the PIO shell, so no more license/region check and no more PS logo. Non-HDDOSD users will be stuck with the POC2, sorry of, unless someone with a brain writes another container. POPStarter revision 7 is designed for PATINFO :( .

Rather than writing apps for patching the POC2 container or inserting a dummy TOC, why not deving a cue sheet parser:concern:?

Form the sound of it.. only people who know how to setup a working PP. on the HDDOSD can use it. So your removing the "License/region check", that's good to know... but I like having the PS logo, makes it look like it was part of it.. or a less makes it looks like a real PS game. Well I'm sure the games will startup a little fester by removing it. (so that good.)

Great work! I'm trying to doing a little hack/edit... but so far its not working at all. (Game just resets/reboots) Its PP.BLJA-00010 (pop'n対戦ぱずるだまONLINE) and PP.BLJA-00011 (『ことばのパズル もじぴったん』 体験版でらっくす) but I may be get it working at all and I'm not sure if it can be done.. or if its been done before.:concern:

Could this PSX2PS2 app be translated to english? I managed to make it work (no chinese speaking knowledge, dont blame me), but I couldnt understand what i highlighted in red. Did someone know what that mean? See pic below.

    psx2ps2-002.jpg

App is quite nice, and generated execute.elf are region free, though using bios regions.

Just couldnt make Castlevania Sotn work, even using their config settings.

I tested the three complete versions of the game and the NTSC-J (SLPS-01300) not works, have
black screen after the PS logo, the NTSC-U (SLUS-00402) and PAL (SCES-01237) versions
works, but no BGM (i hear it only in 2 stages) and have graphical glitches. Also when you
finish the game it freezes in black screen do not returns to the main menu of the game.

I'm who reported the PAL version, i tested now the NTSC-U version (SCUS-94351) and it freezes also
in the intro like the PAL version, from what you say seems the POPStarter revision 7
    improved the compatibility.
