Some nice ones in there I just ordered a Canon 500D X1i, so hopefully ill be able to join you with some nice photos soon
TERRIBLE! I mean.... Most excellent! I have only scanned through them and checked out a couple fullsize, but I'll give them a more thorough look in a bit.
eh, you're welcome to compete with me in case you'll need help feel free to ask. Glad you like them! please point to me your favorite pics! i'd like to understand what are the picture that are considered by the public most interesting/exciting.
I'm sorry but imho most are very average or below... especially you seems to have a problem with underexposure, i guess it can be fixed a bit using photoshop though. But there are some highlights there of course that i like  This is my favourite: http://public.fotki.com/soulkarsten/mugelloraces/mugellogiugno2009061jpg.html And i like most photos when the car is in focus but the background is blurred... like this one: http://public.fotki.com/soulkarsten/mugelloraces/mugellogiugno2009125jpg.html This one has a nice composition: http://public.fotki.com/soulkarsten/mugelloraces/mugellogiugno2009018jpg.html I don't know exactly why i like the following... just too bad the car is so far to the right: http://public.fotki.com/soulkarsten/mugelloraces/mugellogiugno200919.html
My camera just came, took a few photos, but I only have a small memory card until the other comes...here is from my first set (only used a DSLR one other time, when I was drunk so that doesnt count)
it's not an underexposure problem it was dark rainy and cloudy (is you monitor ok?) BTW, argh, i didn't expect to be so low in quality! in any case next time i'll do better even tough it's really a problem to take pictures avoiding fences and people... if only i could get a photo pass...
My camera is here: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=139&modelid=18385 Canon EF lenses including EF-S lenses (35mm-equivalent focal length is approx. 1.6x the lens focal length) 15.1 megapixels and stuffs. I like it
It's a ****king great camera! O_O i use my old 350D... it's still nice but already supassed in quality and features... by the way have you already started searching for extra lenses? i bought a nice but not so light 70-300 with wich i took most of the pics there... most if not all of them at 200-250mm... a nice zoom is really a must have... if you have something in mind let me know i'd like to check it out
Im really a newbie when it comes to cameras, so until I learn some solid info, I wont recommend anything Ill be looking into lenses once I pay off a small debt and get some extra cash, Id really like a nice zoom lense, along with a macro lense of some sort. Possibly a fisheye lense as well, but thats different
Here's one I took a little while ago, the colors have been adjusted in photoshop (for better or worse). The storm wasnt as severe as the weather service predicted, so I couldn't really hone in the camera to the conditions outside to get the shot I would have preferred, but it's still pretty neat I thought
nice try. i'm sure it was better BEFORE the editing. BTW i've started writing down my own journal entries on fotki (really a great service! you guys should sign in, really, there's a bunch of nice and helpful people there): http://journals.fotki.com/soulkarsten/races-at-mugello-racetrac/
There are some nice pics in there, Karsten. You're lucky being close to Mugello - I know I'd be spending time down there with my camera in your position! heh. I took some shots of the Biggin Hill airshow yesterday - I'll have to get them online sometime. Borman, nice lightning shot, but I can't help feeling that the editing might have spoilt it. Can you not see the odd colours on your screen? It's like when you posterize a picture... you end up with weird colour rings somewhat like a pressure chart! When discussing lenses, I notice that you don't mention the apertures of your lenses. For great photography, you really want zoom lenses that will do F2 across the range. Without that, you're going to have to leave the shutter open for longer, or get grain. There are ways around the grain issue, but basically again it means tripod mounting and leaving the shutter open for longer... something you couldn't do for a lightning shot, for example! Here's a quick example I took in my garden: http://triumphguide.com/assembler/trees.jpg As you can see, the auto shot (left) set the ISO to 1600 and was grainy. The shot forced at 200 ISO (right) was a lot clearer.... but the shutter stayed open for about a minute! Anyway, good pics peeps - keep it up!
The lightning thing is all messed up, I know that, just wanted to show off the lightning, which was barely visible before That was also the second day with the camera, without any time to set up for the storm, so its not something I was terribly excited about, other then finally being able to capture lightning! lol On this lens, the aperture goes down to f3.5, so its not horrible.
F3.5 isn't bad really. The composition is good. To be honest, you could fix that up with a bit of spot healing / cloning etc. in Photoshop. Make the sky even and it'll look pretty funky! Or even cropping it tighter. Anyway, at least you're good to go during the next storm ;-)

@ Borman : I hate to bother you, but is there anyway you could send me a higher res shot of that lightning pic, if you have one that is. I would really like to use that as my desktop.:icon_bigg
