f/2.8 is only 1 stop difference from f/4, so if you shot at f/4 and got 1 second, f/2.8 would get you 1/2 a second. Ha, having a nice camera doesn't mean to say I'm a good photographer :110:.
A full f/ stop goes: 1.4 -> 2 -> 2.8 -> 4 -> 5.6 -> 8 -> 11 -> and I think 14 after that, I forget the rest. And for each stop you double the shutter speed.
The whole idea with those pics was the shallow depth of field;-) (only the keychain was macro btw). Here are some more pics from the same day: http://www.ym2149.com/pics/pw2009/ And here are some older photos (using Konica Minolta Dynax 5D and Minolta Dimage 7i): http://arcade.ym2149.com/photos/ I have just downloaded a program called "photomatrix pro"... it is used to make HDR's, i have not tested it yet so i don't know if the result will be good.
I'm sure you will be satisfied with it:nod: I want that CZ lens also but i can't afford it right now, i'm using some old (cheap) Minolta lenses from the 1980's with my A900 (exept for the 100mm macro lens wich is Sony).
Just got the lens today after getting the camera yesterday. Just got to find something nice to photograph now :110:.
photomatrix is quite famous, even tought i can't tell the difference between its HDRs and photoshop ones... remember to post your experiments! BTW after browsing through you galleries i can tell you have something for cats uh?
My example of photoshop foolery. I don't have a scanner so I had to take a picture of a picture and edit the hell out of it. Getting it printed off tomorrow size A2, it will probably look god aweful closeup, but there's not a great deal of detail in the original anyways. Here is the original; And here is my edited version;
Unorthodox you some great photoshop skills, i understand why you want to photo using RAW as you know how to modify them. I can barely do HDR's Yes i like cats... but i have none for myself. I visited my parents a couple of days ago and did some photos of their seven weeks old kitten. It was really difficult to get good focus when he is never still and always want to go forward the camera when i sitt down to get lower angle photos:icon_bigg My parents also printed one of my kitten photos in A4 size using their photoprinter as they liked it so much... it is now hanging on the wall in their dining room.
Thanks for the comment . RAWs arn't too bad to edit, just open them in Photoshop, and there are a few sliders to fiddle about with. Have a little mess about with it and you'll see what it's all about in no time. What converted me was once I'd taken a picture that was overexposed and the whites were completely blown, yet had I used RAW they would've been recoverable. So no I never shoot just JPG. Excellent pictures in colour/framing/DOF. Well done :clap:. That one's my fav.
I actually really like the color on it, just not the biggest fan of the background. I kept re-reading it to see if I was missing some detail in the original.
The first one i far better Ly-C! In case of problem getting the focus on fast moving cats, try using the continuos focus option of your camera, it can be a great help in some situations.
Here are the rest of the kitten photos... i'm not saying they are photographic masterpeices but kitten pics are always nice to watch:icon_bigg
Ly-Colizer, the a900 you've got is a beautiful camera, and great photos! Here are a couple of pics that I have taken over the past year or so. Please tell me what you think, I thrive on constructive criticism. The last one is my favourite, and I've actually had it made into a flag. You can find more of my photos over at my blog, http://don.komarechka.com/ - Don
Nice ones i like the bird on the trunk one... you might worka little with levels there but it's really nice!
I had done a fair amount of work to that Tree Swallow photo, here is the original, with some minor adjustments in Lightroom: It was overcast that day, and the angle that I was at meant I could only get the sky. I took an out-of-focus photo of the woods nearby and combined the two images to make something a little easier on the eyes
