yeah, but there has been a lot of good advice. Stretching was something I never did but I sure whish I had done from the start. I'm knocking the rice again. I can live without that but I do need my bread. I eat a Mc Donald's once a week on a Friday so that can't be too bad for me, right? I don't drink much. In fact only one really good piss-up a month.

Just out of interest, how heavy did your weight reach, GaijinPunch and what do you weigh now?

There are two good reasons for stretching. One is before the training to prevent any accidents like pulled muscles as well warming up. and the other after the training or between training sessions (while pauses) to stimulate the muscles, which will have a positive effect on the muscle growth.
As said you still can eat bread or rice, but better do it for breakfast than for dinner, or simply just eat half as up until now. Also it does matter what kind of bread you eat, white one is the worst. You still can eat cheese and stuff without getting fatter.

Once a week @McD should't be that serious, but also there are foods and foods.
Taking like a cheese burger appart, again the white bread is the most deadly substance. Cheese and meat would do just fine. Potato fries then are an other story again.
If I go to McD, then mostly after a good & strong training, eating a double quater pounder w/ cheese. This may not be everyones recommendation, but as for me I think it's the best timing.

Recently I do also eat some nuts here and there, like pistachio. They provied good and healthy fat-as well amino acids.

I weighed 113k between ages 16 and 19. Dropped it all in college. 18 was rough, as I quit playing sports and got really sof). I got down to about 75k when I kicked the extra curricular activities into high gear, but kinda evened out between 80 and 85 over the years. I'm about 81 right now... was 78 before the quake. I always put on about 3-4k in California. I don't work out, eat a ton of Mexican food, and can't say no to the margaritas. Generally takes me about a month to get back down to my 78-80 form.

I think I'm going to have to drop jogging in favor of cycling for a few weeks. I think I strained a tendon and I can only make a few laps before it hurts like fuck.

113kg? Shit, you were out of shape. Sort of makes me feel better only being 99kg (honestly). My goal is to get down to 80kg. I think that will do me fine since I'm 180cm tall. Any thiner and I'll look ill. you did well to get down from 113kg though. Good going!

I'm about 104kg at present - my heaviest being 107kg. I love bench press / squat / deadlift - basically I'm not a completely fat cunt there is muscle too but yeah I still got too much body fat at present.

I was slim right until 2004 when I was drinking Lucozde as if it was water but sat on my ass on my computer most days and ballooned to 90kg. Prior to then I was cycling up to 30 miles most days.

In 2007 I started cycling hard for about 3-4 hours a day and got back down to 84kg which was awesome but I couldn't break the 84kg barrier, burned myself out then got back into World of Warcraft...

I actully lost about 2kg in the past few weeks - mainly by changing my diet. I'm still mostly physically inactive at the minute but once I get the gym sorted so I can train 6 days a week again I'll be gobbing protein, porridge, building muscle and burning fat at a very nice rate. I think in full swing I'm looking to lose bout 1kg per week, but alas I have yet to get started properly.

Not necessarily. I was playing American Football. While I couldn't run long distances, I could bench press a good 25k over my weight. My squat was pretty lame, at a mere 200kg - about 90kg over my weight. Until I went to college, anyway. I'm also 188 cm. The idea, as a lineman, is to be pretty much as big as possible.

    Famous last words. :)
I was just explaining the concept of MMOs to this girl I know (she doesn't know an arcade game from a handheld).

My advice is to run to the Rocky Official Soundtrack mega collection.

Hmm, I dunno! I am 187cm and when I was at my most ripped, I was 82kgs. Being 180cm means that maybe 75kgs could look pretty lean, but not look ill by a long way.

I am probably around 87kgs now, but have lost a bit of muscle since coming here and probably put on a bit of body fat. I need to buy some trainers and start running. I might well go to tipness in meidaimae though.

Eh guess I don't feel too bad being roughly 115kg at my worst and about 111kg now after about 2-3 weeks of actual exercise.

About carbs: there are good carbs and there are bad cards.

    Good carbs:
    Whole wheat bread
    Black/brown rice

    Bad carbs:
    Sugar
    HFCS
    Potatoes
    White rice

"Good" carbs take time for your body to digest and turn into sugars which can turn into fats. "Bad" carbs are pretty much sugar to start with or easily turn into sugar causing blood sugar spikes. Blood sugar spikes tend to make you feel lethargic quickly and crave more food in general but typically more of whatever made you feel good (kinda like nicotine does).

I was a type 2 diabetic for a few years and dropped enough weight to hit 77kg. At around 99kg my insulin resistance was completely gone. This sort of thing is extremely noticable especially when you have a glucose meter on hand.

The above isn't a half-bad guideline either, allows me to eat cheese without feeling guilty.

Look at getting some insoles for your trainers. The ones they come with are almost always crap. This will greatly help your feet, shins and knees.

If possible, try to find a park to run in so you are not running on pavement/concrete the whole way. Grass helps cushion the impact of your jog.

The best regime you can do is to start a brisk walk for a few minutes, jog for a few minutes, then repeat. Each day, try to add a minute to the jog. Some days you won't be able to, some you will. As others have said, jog 3 days a week to start, then perhaps go up to every other day. Don't drink much water until the end of the jog, unless it is very humid or hot.

This is right on. Eat healthy and after a while you'll avoid bad foods because they'll make you feel like shit. I avoid beef now and use ground turkey instead. Can't stand ground beef / hamburger anymore.

You can only do this for about another 2 months max (maybe 1) in Japan. It's simply too humid. Even at night. Almost passed out a couple of times. The key is to find the sweet spot where you can drink enough to give you fuel, but not cramp up.

I have an all new place to jog. Under the sea! I do a few laps of the 780 meter tunnel for pedestrians from Honshu to Kyushu. The floor is made of that stuff they use in playgrounds so kids don't crack their heads open when they fall off a swing or something. Anyway, rain or shine this place is great to use and it's air conditioned

hehe rod_wod I'm 5'7" and I'd LOVE to be 85kg again - though I wasn't so flabby then I had muscle too so :p It will take me about 20 weeks of diet and exercise to get back there at a rate of 1kg per week, except I'm struggling to start.

Once you start it's not that bad. I had been putting off getting in to shape for a very long time but I finally got off my arse this year.

And scare away any potential dates if they can be bothered to use Google.

I don't know about the rest of you but I try to use this handle everywhere which I'm sure after 15 years has some very interesting results from my younger days...

Sounds like a good place! Avoid during flu and cold season though!
