i can't help but laugh at this post, sorry.

    anyone else see the irony?

plus it's a lack of respect to me. with pregudgements.

it's still interesting to me, And for alot of other members, i'm sure. Hacks are interesting.
if you're not interested, then stop visiting and posting on this thread, that's it. It will save you some uninteresting posts.

Well the rate of true rare protos turning up is against our own level of interests. So even though it isn't real there is still the excitement of potential. So the fact its not real (probably) didn't stop it from getting me vaguely excited when I hear of it.

I never claimed to not be interested in it. Even if it is a hack does not make it pointless. I have collected some interesting hacks over the years, you will also noitce that some famicom hacks are worth quite a bit - in Japan I saw some Hong Kong carts going for up to 10000 Yen.

    You sir, have offended me.

You obviously don't see the irony. I said I was just as guilty of this. We all realise it's a hack job, but it still interests us, and yes, I like to dream that what if there really was such a thing. And most people aren't discussing the merits of hack jobs, they're saying that it's not real, something ascertained some time ago.

Also, I have nothing but the utmost respect for the ASSEMbler forums, and all of its members. If I didn't I wouldn't have spent 5 months researching you guys to write an article (with ASSEMbler's blessing), or interviewing several of you, or phoning certain American members who frequent this forum, FROM EUROPE, to clarify info. Or archiving half the damned forum on my PC HDD.

I am interested, not so much to see this debunked, but rather people's reactions to it, the seller's interpretation and thought processes. I'm a guy who loves the people side of what all that this (and these forums) entail. The cloak and dagger atmosphere, etc.

Finally, I am a HUGE Famicom fan, and as stated previously in this topic, I too like all the wierd and wonderful things that are done with it. Why else would I get up 5 in the morning, to wander through a freezing cold Russian market, to haggle with people over their Famicom hacked goods.

You have totally misinterpreted what I said, and what kind of individual I am.

I wasn't even commenting so much on this thread, rather that while we're all quick to dismiss this, we're still fascinated by it. We pull away from it accusing a man of lies, and yet we retrun, like proverbial moths to the flame, unable to look away. Goodness sake! Didn't you read the glass analogy? If anything, I was trying to subtlely pointing out that this is an interesting development, albeit one that will prove fruitless with regards to actual prototypes.

Apologies if I seem overly defensive here.

You obviously don't see the irony i'm pointing at.

Respect to Assembler, but i think ( i could be wrong) that he doesn't know anything more on this catrige than we do. What you seem to tell us in your post is that, if ''Mr.Assembler'' isn't posting, then the thread isn't worth reading. You seem to tell us that only ''big'' members can participate to this great and bring things to it. By this, you're not only lacking in respect to those ''big'' members that posted in this thread, and that know what they're talking about (and i can count lots of them), but also the new members, just like you, like if new members automaticly means: ''people that doesn't know what they're talking about''.

That's where the irony is. And that sounded like something not respectful to me.

Is that misimpretation? Sorry if it is.

And i understand that i could have sounded not like you wanted it to. I don't want to start a war, either.

It's also possible that it's a reproduction of an authentic binary. As I said earlier, I'm advocating that the guy have the cart dumped and analyzed.

We could argue forever, but you're right. Let's just call it day and make peace. :)

My intention was not disrespect, so apologies if anyone misinterpreted my original meaning.

The guy's story is problably true - he found it in a box somewhere. But It's highly unlikely it's a real prototype. It's problably just a hack. This guy is just a kid, I doubt he would have the time or equipment to manufacture something like this.

  12.
I love how we're all guilty of posting here, saying it's not real. Only to post again. And AGAIN! And then once more, just to clarify how little interest we have in something that is so clearly fake. I'm also quilty of this. It's like a piece of glass glitning in the sun, you know it's worthless, and yet, your eyes are still drawn to it.
It's sortof like a train wreck or a car crash - you know it's bad, but can't help look away.

I think a lot of it is interest on our part, no matter how small - while 99% of us are 99% are sure that he just got saddled with some random hack, everyone has just that tiniest shred of doubt that this could really be something important.
As someone said earlier, nobody really believed the Earthbound 0 story at first, either.

Maybe I was wrong in my doubt?

    http://www.ratedo.com/articles/z3proto.html

I assume his EPROMs died? (see kids? always make sure you dump your unreleased nintendo prototypes)

Could this just be a friend of the guy off ebay?

The official mexican Nintendo magazine had no mention about this either. But it did start in december 1990, so there was already hype about the Super Nes.

Either way, I don't recall hearing about it either.

But this is sure as hell a very interesting story - fake or not - because it's about how information and opinion works - And how we can shape and create the truth.
I'm excited to see the ending of this one.

Im with Blur I never remember reading anything about a ZeldaIII in nintendo power and I had like all the issues from the end of the NES era to the mid SNES era. I got them at a garage sale in a giant cardboard box for like 6 bucks when I was 10. I have read every single one I dont remember seeing anything about it or any articale like that on the gameboy version.
