Guys, have faith in the poor troll. I believe him because I own the same game only my version is 100% complete !! You can tell just by the title screen. Looks far more advanced than his !!

the game doesn't display correctly on my TV though due to the cartridge being American and I had to run in via my Dreamcast on a Famicom Emulator but I do own the original cartridge which I dumped myself using a car battery connected to my Famicom and a disc drive.

Nice pic! Ok, then, it looks like it's "crappy prototype picture" contest time! Here's my entry.

It's a real NES proto, I swear. Look! I took a photo of it, even.

If it had been edited in photoshop... couldn't you just then load up the image on your PC, and take a fresh screen grab? Thereby creating a "new" and untouched image?

I have little technical knowledge of PCs and such like, by the way, so my above assumption may be wrong!

Hehe, you scared me for a sec there Yakumo. I thought you actually wasted a CD-R to burn the NES rom on the Famicom/DC Emu !

Anyway, Nesdev has not come to my rescue, as Photoshop is my next stop :-(.

He gives crappy excuses for not taking screenshots, alright...

I hope this thing is real and he dumps the ROM on the net, though.

The way I look at it, I see no reason to go around bashing the guy. Reason being, if it's real, then that's the absolute best way to ensure that the cart never gets dumped. And, if it's fake, then nothing changes.

Besides, this isn't the so-called "Triforce Saga" cart, so to me that right there gives the cart more legitimacy. Of course, I'm not as much of an NES proto expert as others, so I could be wrong. But, at the very least, I'm willing to entertain the notion that the cart is real until there is unmistakeable proof that it's a hoax.

yes, it's so you can watch the videos you take with it on the big screen or photos or games or whatever. My friend uses it for karaoke ! Sad man

I think this is a fake cartridge. I've just proven how easy it is to make a fake image on a TV screen which took me all of 10 minutes. What I did was make a JPEG of a title screen using the Zelda font on Photoshop. Then add the JPEG to my SD card then shove that in the phone and connect it to the TV. Simple. You wouldn't even need to go that far. You could just run the JPEG on your PC then onto the TV Via a video out card. Simple. So, it's easy to fake an image on a TV screen and add the fact that the guy has so many lame excuses just goes to prove it's fake.

    Materials Needed:
    A NES system
    A Dreamcast Unit
    A Computer
    A NES Emulator
    Dr. Mario NES Rom
    Active Internet
    A blank CD-R
    MS Paint Skills!

    1. Run Dr. Mario on the NES Emu, take a screenshot of the title screen.
    2. Open an instance of MS Paint & Erase all the background and leave the year and company (Nintendo)
    3. Go to http://www.hyrule.net/?design=first&content=wallpapers&base=language/en/multimedia&lan=en
    4. Use the Zelda screen from the first wallpaper.
    5. Cut and paste into a new instance of MS Paint.
    6. Save attributes into 16 Bit color, so it's a single full color.
    7. Paste into the first instance of MS Paint you already have the year and company.
    8. Draw little (3's).
    9. Go to DCEmulation and get Slide Show, by Nathan Whitehead.
    10. Figure out someway to burn the files (Damnit Utopia).
    11. Insert CD into your Dreamcast & hide it!
    12. Turn it on & hook it to your screen.
    13. Turn on NES & make it appear to run on screen.
    14. Turn on Flash on your camera!
    14. Voila! You're 1337! w00T!!!

The thing is that, no one would ever believe it was a REAL proto of Zelda 3, unless they saw it in person...

To prove this game is real, I actually broke into NOA headquarters and stole the single remaining prototype cart. But after playing it I can't see why it was canned. It's just so perfect in every way.

First we have the title screen. It looked all fine until I started hearing polka music. As you can see from the screenshot this version is 99% complete.

Everything seemed fine (except for the dam polka music.) I happily went around and killed some harmless Octorocks. Here Link is demonstrating his new ability to kick the poor creatures in the head:

Look how dope the graphics are. You would never believe an NES could output such detailed beauty.

Then things start getting strange, after the first dungeon link starts smoking crack:

The later part of the game further explores the relationship between Link and Zelda:

I'm not really sure where Zleda's other leg is in this pic. I've always wondered how elves have sex. Now we know.

We can only hope that Nintendo in thier infinite wisdom makes the rom availible for download once the Revolution comes out.

  14. LMFAO! I'm loving everybody's mockups, especially Hawanja's... I was practially rolling on the floor with that one. I really wish this whole thing was real, but all you have to do is read this guy's page to know he is full of shit, throughout the whole thing he just keeps making up lame excuses. It's a shame what people will do just for a little attention on the internet.

A lot of people only like to respond when they have something constructive to say, rather than "me too" posts. That's not a dig at anyone, just an observation (and I don't claim any of my few posts are particularly constructive, BTW :))

Often there are threads posted on this forum that are interesting just to read, and you shouldn't discount people that are included in that group of members.

Well, tell that to ASSEMbler. He removed a lot of 0 and 1 posters a while back.

The best the owner could've done was take a video of him turning on the NES instead of a video of the opening of the cart . Then, he could maybe buy a GameAxe handheld machine, if he's desperate enough to prove to people the game is real, and take a video of him turning the unit on.

Doesn't it seem weird that there's no video footage of the game, but only an opening of the cart...

BTW, I just love your mockup Hawanja!

this story stinks, but in the other hand, there's still that je-ne-sais-quoi in it, unlike other fakes. Maybe its because it talks about a proto of one of my favorite game ever, maybe its because some points seems to evolve, i dunno.

i think its because i'd like it to be true, but it isnt. (well, we have no proof of anything.)

the original zelda 3 was scrapped because the coders wanted to make it more urban:

this is a mock up of the new link

    http://duttygal.tripod.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/.pond/zelda3.jpg.w300h351.jpg

vending machines were going to be brought in to spread the game to a wider audience and, again, give it a more 'street' look.

    http://www.pinrepair.com/arcade/zelda3.jpg

music was going to be performed by revolutionary jazz player Miyamoto 'Dave' Smith (pictured below) but after a serious car crash his score was never completed. rumors persist an 8-Track is in the big N's HQ under lock and key.

    http://www.dramagarage.com/zelda3.jpg

With the project undergoing a major face-lift Nintendo Vice President Jeet Kun Do observed how Zelda should be more appealing to younger audiences, suggesting they change his new 'urban' look to something more family orientated.

    Early conceptual art (below)

It was remarked that "dogs would never catch on", and much Sake was rumoured to have been drunk as the project was halted.

Arnoldlayne: I don´t think that Nintendo has ever had a vice president named Jeet Kune Do lol ;) but he he funny little story.

And by the way, Jeet Kune Do is Cantoneese, if I remember correct, and means "The Way Of The Entercepting Fist".
