what a sad sod. Saying that a fake is yours even though you are faking saying the picture is yours.

Damn, what a dick. I say we invade that forum and fuck up his sale. It's happened to us plenty of times.

Nah, we better not. The Sonic community already hates us and the last thing we need are raving Zelda fanboys in here crying, too. I dont think ASSEMbler wants to risk another DDOS attack, either.

Are those the guys that dress up as Tingle all the time? We can take them.

Seriously though, just let them screw themselves. If it is real, then someone is going to be really happy. If not, well duh. :icon_bigg

The whole Sonic community doesn't hate you, just the members that weren't born before 23rd of June 1991 do.

As for this Zelda III fiasco, it just goes to show that anybody can knock up a potentially money making scam these days.

On the bad mornings it seems tempting to do something similar....fight the evil Timmy!

Would be nice to see this as genuine though.

I think the fact that he didn't want to backup/preserve a one of a kind prototype cartridge by dumping the ROMs out of spite proves it's fake more than anything. I mean if I had some ubber rare prototype, the very first things I'd do is take pictures and video, followed by backing it up.

Ofcourse I guess it's perfectly possible for a jackass to end up with some one of a kind cartridge through some cruel twist of fate. I don't know much about the story behind certain prototype cartridges like EarthBound Zero, but I can't see how they go from one Nintendo entity to some unknown party which is then sold to joe blow the shitman for 20$. I mean I could totally see someone swiping the prototype and selling it to some collector for hundreds or thousands of dollars. I could only see some weird pirate/hack cartridge falling into someone's hands for cheap in the middle of no where.

This was a very interesting thread to kill some time on. That NES rom was a nice touch. It is horribly easy to put together a static screen for NES or just a basic demo. But it can sure fool the noobs.

If anyone really thinks this is real, they outta find out the guys real identity and call him up on the phone or show up at his house with cash. That's the only way to truely know isn't it? The question is how much do you really care? I have to say I don't care anywhere near that much. Maybe if I was rich and had nothing to do all day.

It's been known to happen. One of the guys around here found an M2 at a flea market and paid like $25 for it. Thing is back in 1987 nobody probably thought these things would be collectors items like they are now.

Just to know, even if a cartridge doesn't boot up is it still possible to rip it and make a workable rom from it? Could that possibly screw up the game somehow? Like what I mean is there an element of risk involved in backing up a cartridge, becasue I don't know how it's done.

If the traces to the edge connector are dirty or severed (like my used Ninja Gaiden 3 cartridge) the game will no work. However the ROMs on the board are perfectly intact and could be dumped with the right hardware. Also it's possible to repair the board itself. My Ninja Gaiden 3 was working afetr soldering 2 wires to fix the broken link between the edge connector and the rest of the board. It actually needs 3 more wires soldered to completely fix it as pins related to the CHR are severed causing corrupted graphics. By manually bridging these the game will infact look perfect.

If the cartridge were real (Zelda 3 Proto) it's possible a trace was severed or partially severed which could explain the working, not working, working deal.

As far as danger to backing up a cartridge, the only danger with EPROM I could think of would be if somehow you had a short that wrote to/altered what was stored on the chip. Ofcourse if you've dumped ROM chips before, this wouldn't be a problem. Only for a newbie really.

I've never heard of anyone though that's actually damaged something trying to dump it. Except for cases in which they try desoldering a ROM chip and screw up, that sort of thing. So really, not wanting to backup something truely unique out of spite is just stupidity at its best.

By the way, what does M2 stand for? And I suppose it could and does or rather did happen in those days.

If the eeprom has suffered bit rot then some data won't be recoverable. Parts may still be playable if you have enough rom hacking skills and spend a while messing around.

iam still in question about the find at a fleamarket of the m2 but who care i bought the unit and its parked in a box next room

but to make one point the seller answered a lot of question demonstrated the working unit in 2-3 videos and gave out a lot of pictures including high resolutiones where you could make out details not those small thumbnail mobilephone camera pictures

whenever i see only one photo of these prototypes games or hardware ill get sceptical especially at those prices that are paid these days

Zappenduster, why do you question that I didn't find it at a flea market[IMG]? Why would I lie? Last year I was in the habit of going to the flea market every Saturday morning to buy old NES and Genesis games to mess with during the week when I happened to run across a machine I'd never seen. I called my wife on my cell phone and had her look up the model number FZ-21S1 on goggle and it only got like 2-4 hits. I knew from that search it must be rare so I bought it. Then a month or two later you bought it.
