Actually I beg to differ as no matter how big this fucker will be it will still bea lot more portable than an iPad. If you wear a hoodie as I often do the PSP fits comfortably into the marsupial pouch at the front. This is perhaps also the crowd the PSP2 is aimed at so no biggie. If you got no ass, no hoodie and tight jeans, tough luck
:crying: My wife has always said I suffer from FBS (flat butt syndrome) and I don't wear hoodies often . . . I'm screwed . . . . Yeah the PSP2, or PSP NGP or whatever its going to be called will be more portable than an iPad, that is clear, but it won't be like a cellphone/smartphone. I guess that is what I was getting at . . . *EDIT* I didn't realize how small the PSPGo was, I've never actually seen one or held one before . . . -Disjaukifa
I never said, stated, implied or inferred they did, or at least not intended to IIRC the statement was the NGP is as portable as an iPad. My argument is the NGP is more portable, albeit via hoody pouch. I think you got the wrong end of the stick again Either that or I have failed to articulate myself effectively which does happen more frequently than I'd like
When you draw the comparison between the iPad and the NGP then i assume you are putting them into the same category, portable. Sorry to misunderstand you.
Actually I would like to see it next to some of the bigger handhelds that were ever made, Atari Lynx, Sega Game Gear, Sega Nomad, etc. -Disjaukifa
It's noticeable because it degrades the visual quality and thus takes you out of the experience more and trust me I never even thought this way until I bought an HDTV and started noticing these things. It just screams at you. It was never an issue just playing in 480i on a Digital Tube TV with component cables. You don't want to be playing and be immersed and having fun to be distracted by something that shouldn't be an issue. And like me, it probably won't even be noticeable NOR matter until you own a HDTV. Bigger resolution does not mean everything will look better , only more area to notice flaws that were once unoticeable (and detail is much more noticable) with such a smaller amount of screen real estate. That is true, 1080i HDTV cable channels are locked @ 30FPS IIRC too, but even then, the picture quality of American HD Cable is compressed so god damn much it hardly looks better than SD cable. (not to mention interlacing issues in 1080i in any scenes with motion) At least that's what i've noticed in my experience. Especially after watching Blu-Rays in 1080/24p and even compressed videos from Torrents for example in high definition.
Besides RPGs and RTS I can't think of gestures playing a big part in other games besides some gimmicks like GTA:CT where you had to "turn" the key or hotwire a car.
I will be getting a PSP2 and I hope that it gets PS3 ports which will make it alot easier for me to play and some games I had a hard time playing because of my Duchenne Muscular Dystropy diease that I have which makes it hard. I have these PS3 games which I have finished only six of them and I hope that they get ported over to the PSP2 portable with other PS3 ports too. Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Fairytale Fights Lost Planet 2 Heavenly Sword Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition Resistance: Fall of Man Siren: New Translation Star Ocean: Last Hope International Vanquish The game ports would need new control setups since there are only the left and right top shoulder buttons. Hopefully Sony will make a component AV cable to play them on tv.
So no UMD support. Sorry if this is a dumb question, I don't really know a whole lot about the PSP marketplace but is most everything available for download? Or are there some great games that are UMD exclusive?
There is still a sizable portion of the PSP library not on PSN. Some of it is due to the publisher unwillingness and some is because of legal/contract reasons.
All that matters is games and price which then you get the value. 3DS is going to be cheaper even though I don't consider it cheap. So if it also has the more appealing games then it wins. The hardware capability means little. It's the experience playing it that matters. To give an example, the original fat PSP-1000 model. The D-Pad was horrible. It sucked for games that required diagonal inputs like fighting games. The PSP-2000 slim model seemed to fix this. But that's just an example of something basic but critical that must be just right or else the whole thing might as well go in the trash. I would say it's anyone's game (NGP or 3DS) at the beginning. But Nintendo has a clear advantage. I did like some of the PSP games, but to be honest if people are just wanting PS3 ports, and gimmicky control games I'll pass. The reason I own a PSP is for the 2 Mega Man games and Castlevania RoB remake. Otherwise I can't say there is much I care about. DS isn't superb but it does have more that interests me. Sony will have to try hard or more likely get lucky, to change this.
It's funny, three or four days ago I would have argued with you about this. But then I got Ys: The Oath in Felghana, and I have a ridiculously difficult time running diagonally... which happens to be a pretty common direction to run (the town is laid-out isometrically, for example, and I miss staircases all the time). I don't like the analog nub any better (mine's a bit stiff, I might have said that in this thread already)...
