Soooooooooooooooooooooo hang on. Digital Distribution, or no? "New Game Media" looks suspiciously like a flash card. Are they going to sell all new games on 1-2GB flash cards? Isn't that going to be expensive relative to UMD? Or are all games downloadable and those are just "memory cards"? If this is digital distro only, count me out. I'd still have preferred UMD. Damn thing is big enough.
About digital distribution sony talks only about PSP games on NGP. About new game media i think prefer it from UMD and the reason is about fast data on loadings and save battery.
Not fully sure at the moment. The main thing is games will be sold at retail on a new Media format that is kind of like flash carts but with a small chuck of writable space for saves & DLC on the cart (the rest obviously being read only). There has been word that there might be DD versions sold day & date on PSN but not 100% certain on this.
^^ I read that as "I read it will use Magicite" I sincerely hope that it does. I want a button on my NGP that will cast Merton.
Your point made no sense? Using Cheap generic memory will create easy piracy methods, so if anything, It is your point which is rendered moot.
If you wait six months after it hits the market, there will be cheap memory cards no matter how they shape it. Nintendo DS should be the proof of that.
Sony could make more money per game and get more devs on board for the same reason if they chose to leave retail But either way I bet these carts will be much easier to pirate than UMDs, in fact I bet that some of the first stuff coming from china will be be NMF-to-microSD adapters.
They aren't. It's custom shit and devs won't be sent reflashable carts. Sony will treat them much like they did with UMDs (no burners, etc). I think there is a higher chance piracy will come via fw hacks like on PSP then via flash cards like DS.
