1220, 1221, 1223, 1224 *phone rings* 1200 and...1200 and..... Ah damn it! 1, 2, 3, 4..... (saying it is funnier than typing it)
Why would you mod one of two historical pieces of hardware? It's like finding a rare painting or sculpture, and adding details to it so it looks cool, or something. Maybe someone could send this fellow an american Saturn game and that way he can test the ultra rare system?
old paintings are constantly touched up and restored due to cracking / age etc. but i dont think anyone is suggesting any permanent modifications just a quick in-out if you know what i mean
I'm sure there's someone out there with a blue system disc willing to lend him to Super Magnetic, no need to mess with this rare gem.
As others allready suggested, use a system disc. You don't need a 'blue' one neccesairly, you can also modify the pluto cd-r's to work with a different color system disc.
NICE This is fantastic! I can see Assembler getting a lot of traffic from other sites about this xD Words can't describe how much I love Sega as a console developer <3
That's awesome, I've always wanted to try my luck at building a Neptune, however I can't find any 32x games that really justify the work going into it.
You mean just like this one? No joke, I suppose there is not problem to boot the Kira Term for PLUTO disc or a backup of it with this or another system disc (black or red) patching the iso if would necessary even... I found the original pic of the disc btw in this computer, this is the image without censorship: Hmmm.. I be inclined to think maybe would exists more units because the stuff I have comes from Japan and some staff are working in the Pluto too so I suppose they should have some prototypes to test. Check this out, for example: I will contact with you Super Magnetic, and thank you so much for reveal an important piece of Sega history.
Can't wait for PCB shots. For modding, well, it's easier than easy, even easier than XenoGC, but... what if there's some difference in pinout and you'll get dead unit, and what if they used some FPGA or something that can't be easily replaced (it can be just an ordinary retail PCB with some riser cards and different case though), so better not to mess with modchips for now. No need to be way too paranoid with swapping though, did it thousand times with all Saturn models, no casualties so far.
According to the comments on the youtube vid of the other Pluto, the dude (or his girlfriend) are considering selling it now there's all this interest. Will be interesting to see if it gets put up.
There's a few doubles in there I guess as well as re-releases, special editions and sample discs. As for seeing my collection, not so easy in one photo because it's all over the place. Some in my games room, some in the bedroom but mostly in the lockup. Best to look at my site to see all the titles. I'm still missing about 100 to 150 game releases though to really call it a complete Japanese Saturn set.
I loved this comment. And now I understand where the idea of Modding came from. Then yeah, he should do the blue disc thing. Hope it comes through.
It should be possible to use a 3rd party boot disc by backing up the Pluto's discs and editing the ip.bin (or has the bootsector another name for saturn?) I don't think the OP wanna modify the console, I wouldn't want if I was him. Using an official boot disc should be ok it seems. FG
Either one will work now with SRP 3.0 Gold. It allows you to patch the images as either first party or third party so either of the KD disc can be used. I only have one or I would give him one for this sweet piece of hardware. But I can attest all games work using my KD-02 patching all games for the third party disc.
