I don't think it's Japan mate. These people are idiots to start of with :lol: When I lived in the UK I was well in to anime but not to the extent of wanting to be a Japanese or dressing up. I just enjoyed watching it. These days I don't care so much about it apart from the stuff I really enjoyed. So far I've never met another westerner who loved or knew what Maison Ikokku was. They're always in to their Naruto or some shit featuring little girly type characters. Not my cup of tea at all.
