It was still watered down... my statement just made it sound like it was worse than BoTP, which of course, it wasn't. Most things weren't, actually.

    oxymoron

Went there a couple of times, also against my will ("But it's free entry!"), absolutely rammed and frankly rubbish. Lots of places like that in Roppongi. But you pay for what you get. Yellow (RIP) was the only Roppongi club worth mentioning.

Weirdly this was the kind of place I was more likely to attention (Opening line: "My name is Mitsuko, let's be friends okay").

Best way to find a nice non-gold digging girl in Tokyo, go to the smallest obscurest club you can find, preferably mid-week. Everyone will want to be your (special) friend!

He-Man rules, you guys are loosers.

Yeah have to agree, back in the day when you could only get Anime from the seedy bootlegging video stores it was a lot more refreshing, but nowadays when it's a lot more prevalent it's not that big of a deal. I still occasionally pick up the odd dvd here and there but I'm not really obsessed with it as much.

The novelty wears off when it becomes mainstream. When something is more rare, those who can acquire it tend to like it and pride themselves more. Once the market is flooded, both the appeal and the quality of said product go down...

What got me into anime was the fact that most at least tell a story that isn't wrapped up in 22 minutes. The problem with western animation is what happens in one episode is forgotten by the next with exception to a vague reference now and then. Western animation is the hamster on the wheel. At least that's how it was when I was a kid.

I've never seen DBZ, but someone told me on another forum that literally 5 minutes, yes FIVE MINUTES, of time in DBZ was stretched to 14 episodes. It had something to do with Frieza and Goku or whoever having a stare down match for those 5 minutes, and was stretched out to 14 (or more) episodes.

Is that an exxageration or close to the real thing??

Keep in mind that not ALL anime is horribly paced, but I've seen a few decent ones that get rushed near the end and skip a ton of good stuff. The Arc the Lad anime being a good example, 90% of it takes place in the first few areas of the game world itself, then they skip right to the last areas via shitty plot twist.
