You'll find them all there. Well, probably not Nivra, that's somewhat more unusual. You could do that one yourself in Katakana, though - just look up a katakana table. I assume it's pronounced as in Nibura in Japanese.

I am translating parts of the book 「詳解居合・無双直伝英信流」　by Mitani and Mitani, and need a bit of assistance with the context of one of the commentaries.

This is a comment about a set of ten paired sword kata, that one performs as part of a traditional martial arts school of Iaido, and in goes on to talk about the mindset of the practice, and the difference between the actual martial application vs the training forms. If necessary, I can provide the entire passage, of which this is a first sentence.

In the sentence 「膝頭へ抜き付ける動作が多いが、実戦なら横一文字に抜き付けるべきである。」, I understand the core meaning that the author is conveying (While there is a nukitsuke cut to the kneecup, in actual combat, the there should be an ichi monji cut). I am a little bit unsure about how one should translate 多い in this context, however.

(BTW, Italicized bits are jargon, and are not translated, since my readers are expected to know them through their practice, so romanji for them is fine).

Naive translation would be "There are many nukitsuke cuts to the kneecup...", (or even, "there are many way of cutting to the kneecup") but I am wondering if more appropriate would be more along the lines of "While we do nukitsuke cuts to the kneecup (in our set of kata), in actual combat one should cut horizontally to the stomach", etc.

Basically, is there a reason to assume, that the author is limiting the scope of his commentary to just what he is describing, or is he making a broad, all–encompassing statement?

This might sound like I am splitting hairs, and there shouldn't be a difference, but unfortunately, Iai is a martial art of control freaks, and splitting hairs is encouraged and expected

 

I would translate it as:
"There are many nukitsuke movements to the kneecup, but in real combat, one should do a nukitsuke as yoko ichi monji"
or:
"Nukitsuke movements are often done to the kneecup, but in real combat, one should do a nukitsuke as yoko ichi monji"

I ended up kind of compromising and translating this as "In real combat, all the nukitsuke cuts to the kneecup should be done as yoko ichimonji cuts", which, I now think, is the real intention of the author.

This technical translation thing is way more complicated, then they teach in school.

A while back I bought a stripped down setup for a namco touch game in the hopes of getting Druaga Online & Dragon Chronicles running but sadly when the parts where sent to me the IC reader was thrown out by accident by the person who helped me get it. So recently I've gotten a replacement from another namco game but it seems not to be working (other games see the IC reader but fail on a shutter test but nobody has any info on what that entails.

The first part is most likely some type of technique or move. It says, basically states "You (presumably) attained 'shingitai'.. no... 'shingitai'. The pronunciation is the same for both but the kanji are different.

First: Spirit - Techinque - Body
Second: Truth - Doubt - Retreat

The second line is something like, 'The ever so proud Instantaneous King Death-sama".

Clearly, very useful day to day Japanese.
