So, how much of your income did you give to charity last year? And if it was less than 60%, how'd you feel about us calling you a tight fisted git too?

Oh come on you know very well he's not doing it out of kindness otherwise he would donate more then 20% look at what job he's has if he can afford to buy that much Sgi hardware then he can afford to give 60% to charity.

He probably could, but he doesn't have to. If he feels 20% is enough, it is. And in any case, it's a lot better than 0%.
If charity is that important to you, put your money where your mouth is and make up the 40% difference out of your own pocket. Or maybe you're just envious?

WOW this is amazing. I think If I could get access to the entire Original N64 Turok Source Code, alongside with some kind of level editor and model/animations importer/exporter (to import models inside original N64 Turok Engine), I think I could port Half Life 1 for Nintendo 64, which is one dream I ever had from since a lot of years ago.

People put their own hard earned money into collecting prototypes or other things, 20% is a pretty nice amount to go to charity.

As rso said, its(20%) better than zilch. I for one thought it was cool that he even made a youtube video was concise with his message, with what he was going to do with the; selling them to the public so they can do whatever. Pretty fair imo.

Many people on this forum have even released prototypes for free, with no charge to the public. He gets a +1 from me.

Let's just hope the new home these go to ensure that they are preserved properly.

Just a friendly reminder as well that Preservation != Releasing to the masses

Yes. I cannot agree more. Although it never surprises me to read entitled idiots complain that things aren't dumped.

Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful when things are shared, but it's up to the individual. Nothing is "owed" to anyone.

Edited to add: It's "Acclaim" not "Akklaim" the C's are stylized in the logo. No big deal, but my OCD wanted me to mention it.

New rule: "Do not, under any circumstances, put hot sauce up your butt."

    And now we wait...

    Reddit
    AG
    YouTube
    eBay
    Profit

I don't even think the one listed on eBay right now has the source code. Only 1 out of 15 have it unless he's dumping the drive contents to each workstation.

    Well, duh.

    > unless he's dumping the drive contents to each workstation.
He's only resetting the passwords on each machine. He also mentioned there being other interesting things on some of them (no details tho), so that's probably for the best...
You can tell which one to bid on for Turok by the sticker on the back (well, that, and he seems to have added screenshots of the file browser to all (as of now, "both") auctions). I'm hoping the others don't get ignored and find their way into the right hands.

3 months ago I would've been able to afford it, but moving countries costs a lot of money. :p

Really hope someone on here bought it or someone willing to dump. Dumping the source code for amazing games like tarok and shadow man would open up opportunities to make pretty nice mods and games

I understand the concept of "Your money, do what you want with it," but I can't help but feel sadness. I really, really hope some kind soul on the forum managed to pick it up, I'd have such a heavy heart to see this gem disappear into a private collection before being dumped.

He (SiliconClassics) dumped it (as well as the other machines' contents), he just didn't release it. Small difference. But at least the "bus factor" has been increased to two.

True, but if he has no plans on releasing it, the end result is the same :(
