Are you sure it's GDEMU? This sounds like what happened to me when my DC's power supply was acting up and needed to be cleaned.

Try crazy taxi on the demo loop and see if it crashes after while. I suggest this to people who have had issues with SD cards and with people with USB ODE'S. If the SD or HDD is at fault, it will crash on the Sega Screen after the demo sequence after a certain amount of time. It's a title that has data constantly read back and forth without playing it and is a good benchmark for stress testing.

I have done 24 hour soak tests on Crazy Taxi on my GDEMU and UGC, which now work fine after many SD cards, HDD-S and enclosures. If Crazy Taxi passes then other titles will not cause problems.

I think I formatted the SD Card as auto. Is cluster size important? Anyway I will reformat it today and try again.

Meanwhile this morning I cleaned up the SD Card slot and my 128gb card booted with no issues. I ran Capcom vs SNK 2 and after a few minutes looping the games just rebooted. Now GD Menu only sees 6 games (Cvs SNK2 is the 7th). Viewing the files on a PC shows that all games are still there. This exactly same thing has already happened to me. Any ideas? Thanks :)

Crazy Taxi 1 right? And with demo loop you mean I load the game and I don't do anything right? Thanks!

The problem you describe, has all the tell tale signs of being caused by poor contact between the PSU connector and the motherboard pins (as was already pointed out). This problem is somewhat common and it's well documented all over the internet, so if you haven't done it yet, I'd start by taking it apart and cleaning the pins and contacts on the PSU/motherboard, you can also try bending the pins but be careful as it may cause more harm than good, since the direction where you should bend them depends on the PSU type (110v or 240v), you can read more about it here.

Also, while changing the timings in the ini file can help alleviate the problem, it's not really a long term solution as all it does is give the device more time to recover before causing a reset/returning to the system menu, which shouldn't be happening in the first place anyway.

    Ok just did this:

    1. Reformatted SD Card @64k
    2. Opened DC, cleaned PSU connectors with IPA, pushed them a bit for better contact, both on the PSU and the motherboard. Sprayed Kontakt 61 which is an agent that improves conductivity
    3. Let Crazy Taxi running 2 hours non stop with no issues.

I have yet to run Capcom vs SNK2 again.

Is the worst over :) ?

    :)

Leave Crazy Taxi on a least 5 hours. I know it seems excessive but trust me ( i have done many SD card tests on different brands), it will save you headaches later down the line because like I said before, it's a good title to stress out the SD card. If that does not crash, then every other title will work and should not revert to the main bios screen. If it does, then you know the problem is elsewhere like PSU connectors, etc.

If you're trying to order when it's not officially the time, he'll most likely be pissed off and ignore you.

hello everyone,my name is Irwin, i am from Indonesia. just bought GDEMU from Deunan 3 months ago.
i am using NTSC US Dreamcast. and then i play Shenmue UNDUB for one months and it looks really fine. no lag and no issue. pretty happy for this.
and then after i finished the game,i dont turn on the machine for two weeks and having this issue, the bios wont boot up. it looks like the GDEMU is not detected, the led on GDEMU keeps blinking and then stop.
trying to reboot the machine, the spiral logo come in,but its having sound issue, with LED keep BLINKING. and then the bios sound change into some bass.
i try to format the SD CARD and install the game via SD card maker from the first page. and boot up the machine, everything seems fine again.
i try to boot Power Stone, and play it for the first time on arcade mode. after 3 minutes the LED BLINKING AGAIN AND THE SOUND IS GONE.
reset the machine, and it keeps having trouble again. anybody in this forum can contact Deunan for this kind of problem? it looks like he is very busy and from i heard he is not accept any repair service. its so expensive,i dont even know what to do if this GDEMU isnt working anymore.
    thanks.

As far as I've understood it solid state media does not benefit from defragging. Though I have been known to full format and recopy everything. Though I doubt that is necessary/healthy either. :)

Defragging a SD card is like defragging a SSD: it's killing it. Also, full format and recopy is not healthy, although less killing than defrag.

No, don't defrag a SD card. Formatting and recopying is better but don't constantly keep doing it.
