Check the console with the original GD-rom drive and see how it works with discs, as the console may have gone bad. Check the connections, clean the PSU MB pins (read through the previous pages here) Try a different SD card or another console.

Deunan won't accept returns, especially for a 3 month old unit.

Are you sure about that? I mean, if it breaks, you're essentially down quite a bit of cash - and it's a safe bet nobody else is ever going to be able to repair it.

Does he actually state outright in his terms+conditions that he won't repair faulty units?

    I'd be surprised.

Read the last bit. He will most likely help the OP but with it functioning for 3 months and now its at fault, it maybe down to user error or console failure and not the ODE itself. Only Deunan can answer it properly and use discretion where applicable.

    Limited availability
GDEMU is not a retail product, new devices are made in response to order requests and are subject to part sourcing and production lead times. Because of that orders placed are not considered binding until confirmed and accepted.
You will not be asked to pay unless your order has been accepted and can be fulfilled.

    No refunds, no returns
I’m not a business but a private person and due to GDEMU’s specific production cycle I will not accept any returns, and will not issue refunds unless the order cannot be fulfilled. Sales are final.

    Limited repair options
I understand that even if tested, some devices might end up non-functional due to manufacturing errors. I will do my best to resolve these issues but my capabilities are limited. Therefore I reserve the right to refuse repair and/or refund, especially should I deem the device to be improperly used or broken by the end user. This is a potential risk to buyers so please consider this carefully when placing the order.

@neuroacid is there any chance you could add a feature where we could rename our games from inside GDmenu, and also if possible, could you add support for custom images? Say for instance, as long as we had an image of a disc inside the folder the GDI is in it could show that image on the screen when choosing your games?

I only ask if this is possible as I play a lot of homebrew and indie games which tend to show up named as bootdreams. And as you can tell I am a huge Half-Life fan, so when I load up all my Half-Life mods they are all listed as Crazy Taxi, and I have well over a dozen HLDC mods.

    Thanks for the great program.

I've thought about adding such feature, but there are a few downsides to it, namely occupying extra blocks of the already limited space in a VMU, not being very practical/fast to edit the titles with a controller and more importantly there's no way to associate a particular save file to an SD card, meaning that you'd have to manually select and load the save every time you boot the menu.
Meanwhile you can just use "GDEMU SD Card Maker" to build the list and edit the titles or even better, as a permanent solution extract the IP.BINs from those disc images, edit the titles and rebuilt them.

As for supporting cover images, it's something that I want to implement and the only reason I haven't done it yet, is the fact there is not a good collection/database of covers with standard sizes and format out there (something like this). The closest we have to that is segareto.org so before I get it implemented, I'll have to look into at least creating a decent base package with front covers (probably 256x256 size and PNG format). There's also the problem of what the naming scheme of those covers should be like ideally we'd use the product ID from the IP, but there's always the case of those problematic .cdi disc images that were built with IPs borrowed from other games. Finally since there's no access to the SD card filesystem outside the disc images, the covers will need to be packed with the menu or at least the disc image has to be rebuilt to include them (I'm sorry but I do the best I can with what I have access to).

By the way, I have an update ready that I'll make public in the next few days, I'm just in the process of testing a few things right now.

I think the best way to go at it would be for the covers images to be included in the menu cdi when creating the list. This way, one can manually edit the titles/covers to properly fit the games he has. You're right that older CDI releases can be a mess, and you'd get lots of complaints from people that see crazy taxi's cover everywhere and don't understand that to "recognize the game" isn't straightforward.

For the on-the-fly image, I'd keep using the 0gdtex.pvr for simplicity.

Thanks for the in depth reply. I didn't even think about there being no write ability to GDEmu/GDMenu, so I can now see how that is an issue. VMU saving the game list data wasn't even what I was thinking would be a solution but it is a nice idea too.

However, SD Maker allowing us to rename games before we build the card images sounds like a neat idea. Not sure how possible something like that would be though.

I eagerly await the update in the coming days. It is such an awesome app.

Maybe I am blind as I didn't see any way to rename each game in the program. I tried right clicking the game names in the list and everything. I only recently got a GDEmu so I am still extremely new to all this, but I didn't see any option for renaming ones games.

I am using version 1.05 found in the very first post of this thread.

I use the Linux striped down version, so it might be a bit different, but I think a simple double click on the entry allows you to edit it.

Yep. I use it to back up vmus. I didn't try to dump or play games though.

Yeah, it's still not letting me edit names. I am on the windows version so maybe the builds are slightly different.

Can anybody else confirm they are able to double click game entries with SD Card Maker and edit in windows version?

Ah ok I see now. I guess the feature wasn't advertised in the readme or other than in the post you linked. Thanks for the info!

@neuroacid, I got all PAL covers in 300x300 .JPG's, perhaps this is of any use for you? Send me a PM and I'll send them over.
