What brand is the SD card? I could be completely incompatible with GDEmu.

Edit: I thought Neuroacid said renaming files to disc wasn't required anymore.

I knew it would be a simple thing :) Thank you.

And can the loading occur with the DC tray open? Or do I have to close it first?

    I'll try that later :)

EDIT: I saw the "it's not required" post. So it won't solve the problem? Does anyone has more suggestions then?

Is there any manual like a PDF or an official website for GDMenu? It seems to me that the info is a little dispersed.

Are you able to try a different brand of SD card? As Anthony817 suggests it may not be compatible. I've added GDmenu and one game to a Samsung card I have here without renaming them and it worked fine.

    I will try later on.

But the GDMenu should work without problems, right? Just extract to the root, and with the suppiled image and .ini should boot, right?

Yeah, but change the name of the image anyways because your firmware could be older. Some sd cards don't work with gdemu too, because of latency issues.

ok guys, I got a few questions here that I'm pretty sure some of us are also still wondering, so I might as well ask.

But before I go ahead with my questions, let me just start by saying, I got the new GDMenu v.0.6.0 from neuroacid and it's bloody fantastic. What an update and a half. Seriously. Thanks again to neuroacid. :)

    ok here I go...
Now about these custom firmwares, I'm not aware exactly if it's safe to flash m system with it. I mean, I did not do any modifying to my system besides adding a GDEmu so I'm wondering exactly if I should flash it with the custom firmware by japanesecake or not as I probably need to do something before hand, of which I'm not sure. Also, can anyone tell me exactly, if i can get DreamShell running off of the GDEmu without the custom firmware(s) and is DreamShell even working on the GDEmu as of yet, for what I've looked and searched around, I'm also not sure. And if so, how do I install the firmware/ configure everything in order to run DreamShell if it is possible?

If you guys can fill me in on this info, I would very much appreciate your efforts.

Lastly, there is something I'd also like to share in my finding is a new feature that can be added to your GDEmu which is a sort of tray that can hold SD cards and will fill in the gap inside of your Dreamcast just above the GDEmu. Here's the full info, if you haven't heard yet.

    Peace!

If you didn't add a flashable bios mod to the console then there is no way to flash the stock bios. You would have a bone stock console if you never modded it lol.

Also, the Dreamcast I got now has one of those 3D printed GDEmu guards that redirects airflow and makes it look much more professional as well as not being easy to loose the SD card inside the machine. It makes removing the cards so much easier as well. Simply lightly press your thumb on the SD card and slide forward. The one on this machine is printed in black.

Highly recommended to all GDEmu owners, as long as you can find somebody to print you off one or sell you one.

Anthony817 thanks for the input. Now, since I know now that I shouldn't flash my stock bios cos I don't have a modified bios mod, I'm still not sure about DreamShell working on the GDEmu with a stock bios or not and if it does work, are there any special steps to configuring it?

I was wanting DreamShell to work so I can have the NEO4ALL RC4 (Latest NeoGeo CD Emulator) standalone emulator that came out for DreamShell so I could just dump the raw ISOS of the games and play it from there, instead of having them individually within the GDMenu with each game having the emulator built in.

Btw, glad you got that GDEmu tray mod in.. that's sweet. I managed to get a friend at work to print one for me which he is still in the process of doing. Can't wait to get it. :)

Well, at the moment the iso loader in Dreamshell just sees the GDEmu as a regular gdrom drive, so it can't access the SD card like GDMenu does. Although it looks like that could be changing since megavolt85 recently posted some changes to Dreamshell where he added a new app to it called "GD Play", however in my preliminary testing of the app I couldn't get it to change images. I for one was always a big fan of Dreamshell and the added features so it will be nice to see if he can make it function with this device.

I did tests with dreamshell and it can now boot gdemu games if you switch games using the button on gdemu PCB. It's experimental though and I still have stuff to test (sorry megavolt for taking this long, I'm very busy right now).

Thanks to everyone of you. As soon as I put the other card, it didn't lit the LED, and booted GDMenu.
Thanks everyone for this basic solution (that has been described, but I thought it wouldn't be the case), and thanks to Neuroacid for the GDMenu :)

As my GDEmu is like 1 month old, I think it has the latest firmware, I can confirm I didn't renamed the GDMenu filename!

The card that wasn't working was an old Kingston 2GB SD Card I had stumbling, it was just for testing...

I changed to a microSD + adapter of a sandisk (1 or 2GB) it worked. So it answered to my question, microSD + adapters WORKS! :)

I'm also interested in buying this addon, I have no way of printing it!

I didn't have anybody print it for me. I got this Dreamcast from a friend earlier last month in August premodded with all of this. He had another friend print it off for him. I am sure you could commission somebody to print them for you guys for relatively cheap.

Love it, but not compatible with the 5.0 GDEMUs, sadly.
Maybe someone will make a specific version for these.

My sentiments exactly on latest GDMenu. That tray for SD cards is kinda cool, I see there is one for the Saturn too :)

Anyone know if the new GDMenu supports Acion replay or Game shark like it does for CodeBreaker? I didn't get the time to test other cheat apps yesterday 'n I just wondering while heading to work.

Reason I ask is 'cos codebreaker wasn't saving the new codes I was adding and it's interface is a real pain in the butt. Although according to the Widescreen hack thread there was a mention that action replay is less of a problem.
