It's a real thing, too many choices can overwhelm, and then you play nothing. As an aside though, 512gb the size and weight of a cracker in your hand, unbelievable technology.

I also got the freeze at the little silver ball blob-ish creature, but could skip this by pressing start. I then went to actually play this game and it automatically reseted on me while I was battling Antonio the war beast. It's strange the whole system just rebooted. I am running 128GB Kingston SD with a 5.4 GDEmu from 2014 using firmware 5.13. I am using the GDI as well. I think a new firmware is definitely needed for this game.

I am going to attempt continuing from the save and see if it freezes again during the battle vs the war beast. Anyway, keeping my fingers crossed.

EDIT: So after continuing from the SAVE I was able to defeat the war beast and proceed, although after awhile again it rebooted the system, but this time it took about an hour longer. Hmmm... ?

That's over kill lol. 256gb is more than enough imo.

Do the Crazy Taxi Test first and see how that behaves after an hour or so. It should not crash on the "Sega Screen" or reboot the system.

Basically, go make a coffee or do something else for 2 hours while you leave the game on the demo loop. If it passes then other games should work fine thereafter without no reboots or crashes that require a full reset by the user.

However, reboot's can be caused by the motherboard pins not connecting properly to the PSU. Try cleaning or bending them slightly, so they make better contact.

    Cool.

I tried the Crazy Taxi stress test yesterday before even reading this and it did freeze and then rebooted after like 30 mins.. I believe this has to do with the new 3D printed tray I put it cos before I don' remember it doing this a lot. Only when I bought it and then realized I should clean the pins with rubbing alcohol. I will have to take it apart, it could be that the screws that are screwing in the tray are too tight? I'll clean the pins again just in case. I'll have to try.

OK, so I have figured out a solution to my problem without taking it apart or cleaning anything.

So, recently I have been plugging in and unplugging the power cable of my GDEMU modified Dreamcast to try other Dreamcast's which I have purchased recently that still have the stock GDROM. I just did a 1 hour Crazy Taxi stress test on my GDEMU Dreamcast and now everything is working flawless.

SOLUTION: All I did was unplug the power cable for a few minutes and plugged it in. And BAM! Problem fixed. And, FYI, I have even played some Skies of Arcadia prior to the Crazy Taxi stress test and it was flawless too.

REASON TO THE PROBLEM: I guess some trapped dirty power or ground problem? These things have happened to me with other electronics in past experiences, but honestly, I dunno. All I know is that now, after doing this, it's working as it should. No freezes or hiccups. No problems.

SIDE NOTE: If this is happening to you and you've tried the solution above and you're still having this issue. I recommend using another power cable or open it up and clean the pins connecting to the PSU and the pins connecting to the GDEMU device. If that still doesn't work, try your GDEMU device on another Dreamcast. And use a 32GB SD card or card less than 32GB. (Use list of compatible SD cards that are posted on the first page of this thread.)

If you're still getting freezes and reboots, then I have nothing else to think, but only that your GDEMU device may be faulty.

Hope this info clears up this kind of issue. :D

    Peace!

I successfully used a 64gb Samsung sdhc ultra. It seems to work well but was a little bit of a pain to get formatted to fat32.

I received my gdemu about three weeks ago. I'm currently using a 256gb lexar sd card, formatted as fat32 (don't remember cluster), and when I got it I placed the latest gdmenu in 01. All my games and everything work correctly but there's one little hiccup. Does it usually take a while to reach the menu? I have 150 games on it and the sd card is only about 75% full. On average it takes about 24-32 seconds after the dreamcast logo to reach the gdemu menu. It's really not a big deal but if I can shrink the time I wouldn't complain. I have a framemeister and toro so I just boot up the dreamcast first and then the other devices so it doesn't feel like it takes that long but I wondered if there was an ini or setting I'm missing to boot it up quicker. This is the card I have.

Sounds to me like a problem with the PSU in your Dreamcast. Have you cleaned the connectors going from the MB to the PSU? From what I understand system resets are usually the fault of the PSU, faulty cards cause freezing, and other issues are other issues.

Edit: Ah, I should have kept reading. Glad to see you got it fixed, and as expected it was the PSU. Just one more case study where the resets are power supply related.

Have you run the Crazy Taxi stress test on it (5 hours of crazy taxi in demo mode)? It would be shocking if a card that large really does work flawlessly.

Does anyone seriously have tested and working 64GB or larger SD working properly on GDEMU? I tried 64GB SanDisk and everything showed up in menu but random games would freeze or have graphical glitches. I've read some people had success, but I wonder if they tested all their games thoroughly.

128GB Kingston = Flawless performance with over 100 games I have tested. Read through this thread regarding your issue, as it's been answered before.

I have tested my gdemu with 3 microsd cards :
    * sandisk ultra 128 class 10 sdxc (the black one) : seems to work, i made some test on canon spike and AFO and i m copying all my favorite game on it in order to make tests :)
    * sandisk ultra 32 class 10 sdhc (red and gray) : the card seems to be not recognize, gdmenu is the first app and is not launched, and the dreamcast is waiting for a game to be loaded...
    * Samsung 32 evo (white and orange) : seems to work, test on canon spike and AFO but i have no plan to make more tests on it...

Furthermore, i was having freezing problem before even with the working sd card mention above (it appears very fast, always at the same time). I was going to throw my gdemu (well perhaps sell it...) and i check the PSU. I've already clean it a long time ago, but the 3,3v... i do not know how to call it... connector was not aligned with the other. When i push it with a pencil in order to have a better contact between the 3,3v on the psu and the 3,3v connector on the main board, all freezing pb disappear...

I'm not saying you should not test the ones you got. I wanna stress though that people should not buy Sandisk cards for GDEmu, the risk it will not work is quite high.
