I can confirm that the CDi does the same for me in the menu. When you scroll down to choose it you gotta be quick to press play or else the black screen of death appears.

    Hello neuroacid,

Any chance of updating your GDmenu to have a feature to detect the CodeBreaker before booting or add a cheat engine?

Really looking forward to it. Thank you.

Writing to confirm that I too used the "Kingston Digital 128 GB SDHC/SDXC Class 10 UHS-1 Flash Memory Card 30MB/s (SDX10V/128GB)" and the smaller "PNY Elite Performance 16GB High Speed SDHC Class 10 UHS-1 Up to 90MB/sec Flash Card - P-SDH16U1H-GE" cards and they worked flawlessly.

Took a bit of finagling to get the Kingston 128gb formatted correctly as WiN 10 did not want to do anything with it besides NTFS and exFAT. Ended up using a program called "Macrorit Disk Partition Expert Free Edition" to get me FAT32.

I am using a SanDisk 256GB Extreme SDHC Class 10 Memory Card 60mb/s - SDSDXN-256G that was formatted using the HP Format Tool and contains the US TruRip collection. Have experienced no problems with GDEMU 5.10.0.

I also have some 4GB SD cards, one of those being an EagleTec SDHC Class 8 and that works perfectly fine.

You can add these to the list of compatible SD cards if you wish. Can provide some photos and details of the other cards if required...

I'm using a Transcend Class 10 32GB, works fine (edit: it started to fail after playing for about 1h30).

I'm also using a SD extension cable (similar to this one on Amazon, 46 cm) - I can keep everything inside the console or leave the end with the SD holder & card outside, even with the lid closed (there is enough space for the flat cable between the lid and the case). It makes it much easier to remove the card, and might help avoid wear and tear of the GDEMU connector.

Actually, after playing with it for a long time, it started to fail! I contacted Deunan and he confirmed that the Transcend Class 10 32GB shouldn't be used with the GDEMU. I changed to a Transcend Class 6 16 GB and I didn't have any problem so far.

I have been testing the Dreamcast title D2, multi-disc NTSC/U) GDI from the Trurip collection. This is the only game I know of that requires a disk swap mid-game, whereas, other multi disc games let the user save before switching, etc.

However, I have noticed that when the game prompts for a disc change, when pressing the button on the GDEMU unit, the game does not recognise the change, yet other times it does.

What I have done is, boot up disk 1 and load a disc 3 save. Pressing the button will sometimes do nothing at all, or it will go to disc 2 and become unresponsive thereafter, yet other times it will go to disc 2 and then disc 3 on the 2nd press. It’s completely random and I cannot find a cause to it and the button does not seem faulty, as it works every time when in the DC browser menu, as I can see a disc change each time.

Or this a firmware issue, game or combination of the two to why this does not switch discs in-game consistently. I'm waiting on a Reply from Deunan, yet wanted to see if others have this problem too.

You could try increasing the time it "keeps the drive opened" in the ini file at the root ofthe sd-card. Maybe it's simply too fast for the game to notice it? Depends on how it's coded.

Good idea, never thought of that. I'll try that later when I get home.

gdmenu (the menu und menubuilder) seem not to fully support cdi and ccd.

ccd folders stay empfy at all, cdi games run, but the menu builder always forgets the name, at least for me

    what options do i have?

Get proper versions of the games. That is gdi or well-made cdi.

Afaik gdemu doesn't support ccd, only cdi and gdi. Also some crappy cdi release have an erronerous name in their IP.BIN/set a crazy taxi because rippers simply used a generic one.

Yes. I'm on linux, so I use a slightly different version of madsheep's program, but you can rename any game you want... Just try to double click on a game name maybe?

Hmm, its ok once on the actual GDMenu screen on the DC it has the proper name displayed. Are there any programs that can change the display size of games, as i have noticed a few games the display seemed to be overscanned, for example Starwars pod tracer the there is a large black border at the bottom of the screen and GunLord seems to be shifted down and missing part of the bottom of the screen

Im guess a lot of the Dreamcast iso pack have dummy track added so it fills a CD, whilst this was good when burning games to disc its not so good where the GDEMU is involved as file sizes are bigger than then need to be. With this in mind what iso collections doesnt have dummy tracks added to the isos?

Not quite understand what your trying to explain because why use a GDEMU unit and complain of file sizes of isos. The whole purpose of GDEMU is to use proper GDI dumps of the original disc, so why settle for inferior CDI ripped games?

Just don't get why people would want to use CDI ripped games with this?? It's like the saying "Why have cotton when you can have silk" Sure, it's okay to use CDI's for VMU saves, Code Breaker, fan made undub versions of Shenmue, home brew and that kind of stuff.

GDMENU has the option of changing the file name, so you can rename or do whatever you want to do. The screen shifting sounds to me like a video issue. 60Hz forced into 50HZ or something causing a border and making clipped text or something.

I was always under the impression that Sega put dummy info on the GDI disc to fill it out to make copying them more difficult? Hence info in the image thats not needed, if this dummy info was removed then more games could be placed on an SD card.

Regarding the video issue, just to clarify i have a PAL Dreamcast with a region free BIOS chip installed and using a Hantarex CRT Display Monitor . Hydro Thunder for example i must have tried about 4 different versions PAL and NTSC (Trurip, TOSEC & HyperSpin) and the top of the screen seems to be cut off for all of them bar one which is from, 'P*********me Self Boot Dreamcast 0.08' this ones seems to be region free (according to GDEMU) and fits the screen just fine. So not sure why just this one version which seems to be a DC-KALISTO rip and GDEMU give it the name 'chu chu rocket'. On general the few PAL games i have tried they screen display seems to be over scanned for all of them!!, i would have thought for PAL games it should of been the other way and the games have borders

Also when play Hydro Thunder from the disc did it ever have music when playing, as with all these versions theres no in game music, it sounds like music start for a second when you first start racing but then stops.

Its not so much making it harder to crack and copy because of dummy data. Sounds and video were encoded in higher bitrates that was imposible to fit on Cdrs back then. Also, there was more too it with later titles that sega did with copy prtection.

GDI's can have their unused space removed, etc, now using tools, so space can be saved for SD cards and still retain their original structure over scene released rips
