What would you value it at?

Also what are the chances of NOA / NOJ catching on and taking legal action?

pretty damn high. As for legal action, iffy. They didn't do anything about star fox 2 or earthbound. Though zelda is a much bigger franchise. I'm guessing your claiming to have it?

Thats a years salary for some people...

The game would have to reach through my tv screen and hi-five me everytime I did something good for that much...

edit: forgot to mention that it would need to be nothing short of DECKED with working debug menus, it would have to be the full game + deleted stuff, and in mint condition.

Forget eBay. I'm prepared, right now, to offer One Hundred American Dollars, in cash. Believe me, I'm good for it.

Why would this guy's first post boast about ownership of such a desirable product?

I wouldn't buy it straight up, I'd rather count on the community to pay for it.
That's where it will end up anyway. More money in my pocket.

You don't get bj's for bragging rights

Where exactly did I say or imply I have ownership of it?

Maybe I know someone who has a copy and is interested in selling but wants to know whether it's worth it or not for the potential risk involed.

Or perhaps i'm acting as a middleman for someone, etc.

    Don't jump to conclusions.

I have contacts in South America. Resourceful contacts. After you deliver the goods, I can get your man out of the country and so far undercover that even the Mossad won't be able to dig him up, let alone Nintendo.

If I was this guy i'd go ahead and post proof of authenticity instead of beating around the bush.
That way we can all take this seriously.
This guy should be more afraid of a random mugging, than any lawsuit for the item in question.

    You've heard what we'll pay.

    Show us what you've got!

Indeed. What are we talking? Full retail DD, blue development DD, code on a CD or 'what if...'?

Considering this was a completely internal project, surely everything relating to the game is locked away in the depths of R&D1, guarded by ninjas, mobile suits and Pikachu?

Pretty much what I would say too.
Though, I'd have to say the state of the build is the most important factor of what the value is.

In general, I guess the price could go pretty damn high if it is a complete and fully playable game. A drawback on what people would be interested in paying might be the fact that the game itself may be in some odd format. If this is a DD64 disk of some sort, the majority wouldn't even be able to do anything with it, although I guess it could ignite the DD64 emulation scene again (or maybe I'm just out of the N64 emulation in general and have missed out on possible recent advances in DD64 emulation.)

A private collector might buy something unplayable or barely working for a so-so price. A group of people might even split the tab on something like that.

A fully working game might either be sold under the table to a collector rather discretely. But if put out in open, it'll probably attract a group of people who'll put their offerings together for some sort of community (either closed or open).

So anything from 1k-5k, but it could end up higher if something as absurd as a bidding war between a private collector and a community occurs. Though, the price estimate should really be based on the format the game is evt. provided in, how playable it actually is and what restrictions may be bound to the sale/transaction. (Like, I doubt anyone but a private collector would buy something that couldn't be spoken of or shown in public. So if you expect a 5 figured number from non-public under the table sale... good luck on even finding a buyer. 'cause that might be just as hard as winning the lottery.)

Surely some proof of its existence is in order here? (as someone else already mentioned)

...or should I start a thread entitled:

How much is Saturn Shenmue worth?

    lol

since this is a community where some rareties surfaced, he/she/it should post proof of him/her owning it and everybody could join the fight...maybe a collector will buy it or the community and it gets released

and in this forum, i wouldn't fear to face legal actions by big n
