Sigh...I don't understand how the religious Right will say they'll vote for Bush for moral reasons, because he'll try and ban gay marriage and he's a Christian. Yet he'll ignore education, poverty and healthcare.

I think people should be concerned about the well being of their fellow man , and not force their ideals upon them. Sadly, it seems like only about 49% of the country agrees with me.

Hey Blur, I agree with you.

And what's sad is that although 13 million new people voted this time around, the total number of people who voted is still only about 60% of the country.

By contrast, the last election in Russia had over 80% turn out.

Looks like we're going to have to wait a few days until they count the absentee ballots, so until then it's everyone's game.

As some of you may have gathered from my posts and website that I'm a looney Liberal of the far leftist order, i.e. I beleive that the public interest is best served by the public and not the corporation, I beleive that there is too much conflict of intrest from our elected officials and the various industries/special intrests/religious groups that support them, that the right of the individual trumps whatever collective need there is to protect us from the less agreeable elements in our society and that laws that have wide sweeping undefined implications should not be allowed (i.e. the USA Patroit act,) etc.

But from what I gather from various conservatives I've met and talked to over the internet, what I beleive isn't too far away from what they want as well. I'm not going to split hairs over little things, like, oh.... abortion.

So, when Kerry holds up the results for a week, I'm not going to cry foul.

And when Bush steals the election again, I will be angry. But I'm not going to riot in the streets.

For better or worse, this pathetic facade is what passes for our democracy. Let's at least try to fool ourselves into thinking it means something.

    ¿Eva01! De dónde eres, maestro?

¿Qué fuiste a hacer del otro lado? Qué chido ver compatriotas en un lugar tan inesperado!

(Though, you're right, I paid 370 dollars for my PS2 back in 2001. I saved for a LOOOOONG time to get it and wasn't very impressed after two weeks of Devil May Cry. MGS2 changed that, though)

BTW, there's a "tie" in Ohio and it can take up to 11 days before there are election results!

It's like Deja Vu, all over again!

Bush whooped Kerry by 3.5 million votes. :smt042

Yet he still may lose, depending on the small chance of Kerry pulling out a win in Ohio.

    Karma, baby! ;-) :smt023

Yay, looks like another 4 years of fuckup's, sorry "fighting" in the middle east...

I wonder how many soldiers are on the Iranian borders now awaiting the "go" of Bush's election victory?

Your elections are too damn confusing.

Gotta love the system here in Brazil. We vote in computers, where we vote on the person number, see his photo and party on the screen monitor then confirm. Blind people, and even illliterate people can vote , without difficult.

Plus we get the results on the same day.

Kerry can't catch bush in ohio....they've said the abs/provisional make up 175000 ballots he'd have to get votes on 130000 of those ballots or 78.5% of the votes...historically the best democrats can hope for is an even split...it's over...

    Yup. Kerry has conceded.

I guess good luck to Bush, or something.

Let's just hope he doesn't blow up the world or get it blown up.

A quote I heard might describe something about the guy

" you talking to god is called faith. God talking to you, that's called Schizophrenia"

Last thing I'm gonna say about the election, I promise.

and congratulations to Bush.. um.. fans.

    and stuff.

  18. Wonderful. I didn't really want to be able to afford college or get a secure job when I graduate anyways. It's not all that important.

    UGH!

Four more years of this bullshit? God help us.

But oh well, guess I can't complain. The people have spoken, even if they are fucking stupid I guess we have to live with it.

I was going to end this post with a lot of "I told you so's" so we can look back after the world falls apart and see how right I was, but I think I'll just sit quietly and let everyone watch it happen.

I am, afterall, an American citizen.

Agreed. It will be an interesting couple of years here. Honestly, I don't know what is happening in America. Why have we started to lean so far to the Right?

This ban on gay marriage, and civil unions, and the like really gets me. I don't care if you don't support somebody's lifestyle, but I don't think it's right to inflict your lifestyle upon someone else, because you don't support theirs.
