I added a 300 ohm resistor to mine, and my dreamcast seems to run fairly cool with no issues. I've played it for hours with the USB-GDRom and just the 300 ohm resistor, no additional mods.

Just talked to MNEMO about it, he's told me he is working on a fix now and should have it done soon :)

That's great. Thanks for the update:)

I have GDEMU and UGC, one console with the 12V removed from the PSU and the other using a 300 ohm resistor and both produce no issues with heat, etc. I have ran demo loops for over 24hrs on both systems too and extensive playthroughs on some titles.

I just went to RadioShack and got a 330 ohm 1/2 watt for under $2 so I'm going to try this out.

    Thanks!

I'd like to know how that works for you. I have a 300 ohm on mine, however I don't know how hot it should get. I notice that playing Tokyo Extreme Racer recently that it does seem to skip some, however I don't recall if this is normal or not.

I'm using a Hanzo -> Kenzei along with a USB GDrom, I actually couldn't get a signal out of my Dreamcast when adding the resistor. I think I'm in the minority, but in my case it wasn't needed.

That's odd if the resistor was put on the 12v rail. I thought I read at one point that the external VGA adapters used 12v, but that could be poor memory. If that's not the case I don't think anything else uses 12v in the system outside of the GD-ROM drive.

D2 doesn't work in current firmware, but worked in previous firmware.

Tried several different adapters - generic and brand name. None worked

Transcend TS-RDF5K is the adapter I've used with Savetec MicroSD cards of 32 GB and 64 GB capacity. Works perfectly fine even if the full capacity is in use.

I'm 99% sure, your MicroSD cards are either fake or incorrectly formatted. Have you verified your MicroSD card thoroughly with a tool like h2testw? If yes, make sure the memory device is formatted using FAT32 with 32K or 64K clusters. NTFS, exFAT or anything else won't work.
Currently, I'm using a 512 GB HDD by Toshiba because it's much cheaper and the maximum transfer rate is way beyond the original GD-ROM drive in either case. So a capacity of 128 GB really isn't any issue at all with USB GDROM.

I recommend to steer clear of ebay for buying any kind of storage memory. You can find these fake memory sticks and cards even on Amazon. eBay and Amazon are doing absolutely nothing anything against this fraud even if you and a hundred other customers report on it. If you're clever, lucky and insistent you might get your money back but that's it. The price is a good indicator to spot fakes. If it's too good to be true, it's certainly fake.

P.S.: Amazon is currently under heavy attack world wide. There are a lot of fraudulent sellers popping up trying to sell fakes as originals or simply try to rip you off. There are many fake offers for Samsung 128GB SD cards, for example.

Yeah I had the card formatted correctly. I'm pretty sure it's the USB adapters I was using since I've since used the 128 GB SD card on my hacked 3ds and filled it to capacity and it works fine.

I'll see if I can find the USB adapter you mentioned, thanks!

I received mine last week.. but I can't get it to work. Comes with firmware ver. 16/10/06 which seems to be newer than most listed here.. but any game I try, either CDI or GDI just gives a garbled screen, or causes the swirl to keep coming up.. almost like a reboot loop. Been going back and forth with him on ICQ.. but no resolution yet.

Don't think it's how my sticks are formatted, as they work fine on his 3DO USB adapter..

It'd probably work fine.. but you won't really notice any speed increase if thats what you're going for.

I believe Hiker5 was having similar issues at one point but MNEMO gave him some files to flash his hardware with and it fixed it for him. I think if you goto his site and download the "latest firmware" it might be attached with it. I cant access the site right now because im at work but you'll know what file it is when you download the firmware. You just stick it in your root folder of your USB drive and I believe that should fix it.

Sticks/HDD's need to be "primary" partitioned @ FAT32 using EaseUS or other partition app and don't use Windows to format them.

16/08/16 is the latest firmware (site) yet sometimes he ships devices that have newer firmware flashed. However, downgrades are not possible either. If you do manage to resolve your problem, can you check D2 swap and see if it works, as it's broken on 16/08/16 and Mnemo was apparently looking into it.

That enclosure may not fit inside the Dreamcast. But there's only one way to know for sure.
Maybe something like this will fit.
