Personally if you can do without the CDI format I wouldn't bother updating, I'm still having problems and I'm not getting any luck communicating with MNEMO

I used the usbgdrom to load only gdi's from Redump, and after the updated I cannot load games with more than 3 tracks.
I've try all the ways I see here:
    - format the 2 TB hard drive with the tool in FAT32 and 64K
    - 2016/12/08 firm
    - I put the special firmware
    - I put the GDv5_HDD.inf
Say that, before the update, the games runs fine.
    Anyone with the same issue?

Why did you update, if the games were fine before? The Dec 4th 2016 was the last official release, which works fine and I test practically every GDI from the TruRip dumps whenever new firmware is released.

Just curious to know why a few keep updating to 8th Dec version, as were are the release notes, since it appears to me it's a quick bug fix for something.

Because the Dec 4th 2016 caused problems too

That will the issue like I said to the guy above because there is no reason to update to the 8th Dec.

Mnemo may have given that version to a specfic user (isolated case, bug fix) for a rare issue but if others use, it could break compatibilty for them. It's just a wild guess.

What problems? I beta tested the 4th Dec weeks before release for Mnemo along with others. There was no game breaking/hardware issues during the stress tests I did. The version before had issues as it broke D2 swaps.

I see you have a first revision ode, so it could be the cause. My V5 internal on Dec 4th boots fine. Rocky5 is the person to speak to about V1's.

Just an update, it seems the latest firmware update is ok, I think my Dreamcast was dying, I started to notice garbled sound and strange screen tearing during play so I got a brand new old stock Dreamcast, popped my USB GDROM in and everything seems to be working perfect! I think something must have been wrong for ages, games seem to be running smoother too

Try to clean it inside and replace and if it doesn't work. Change "thermal paste" maybe you have a over warm somewhere.

I have a dreamcast with a dark screen I don't succeed to save her... Maybe you'll can.

    Someone please... I need help....

My USB GD-ROM arrived and I'm able to play CDI and GDI's just fine from *USB STICK*.

However, when I plug in my USB drive (FAT32, 64K clusters), I keep getting a "no FAT32 partition found" error. I have tried the Fat32formatter on this thread and even used the newer version (guiformat). I have tried the following hard drive combinations but still keep getting the "no FAT32 partition found".
    1. 2TB Western Digital My Passport drive (FAT32/64K clusters).
    2. WD 1 TB Drive in a generic enclosure (FAT32/64K clusters).
    3. Inateck enclosure (recommended by someone in this thread and got his to work) with 500 GB Samsung drive (FAT32/64K clusters). Here is the link to the enclosure... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JQTO8TU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I DON'T think my board is defective, since I'm able to use with USB stick.
NOTE: I *DID* have problems at first with the default 2016-12-04 firmware. I would format USB sticks on my PC but then *after* inserting into the USB-GDROM, the USB stick would NO LONGER BE READABLE on the PC. I tried with 5 different sticks, same problem. Insert into USB GD-ROM, USB GD-ROM would read and load games, but when I stuck back into the PC to copy more games, every PC (I tried 4 different PCs) could no longer read USB stick. *** I SOLVED THE UNREADABLE USB STICK ISSUE BY UPGRADING TO 2016-12-08 FIRMWARE**, but have the remaining problem of every hard drive combination that I've tried shows "no FAT32 partition found".

Do you think that my board is defective and can only read USB sticks (this doesn't make sense, so I'm not sure)? Or, does someone know of an even newer firmware out there? I'm *SORT* of happy with the unit because I can GDI's from USB Stick, but I would rather not buy a larger stick/SDCard when I have 2TB, 1TB, and 500GB drives that I can use.

*ANY* help will be appreciated. Thanks!

Strange it does not take a HDD.
But those are USB 3.0 devices, do you still have a USB 2.0 hdd to try?

Also tried a normal format instead a quick format?
