There are definitely some amazing projects that have either been done or are coming soon. Anyone have any others they'd like to share?

    Mother 3 translation

The sequel to earthbound has been translated after a 2 year project. Everyone should play this game.

    Black Mesa: Half-life Remake
Half-life will be completely remade with new everything, physics, graphics and a slew of other features. Take a look at the screen shots and music.

    Project S

A sonic fan-game organized by Sonic Xtreme's Chris Senn. While not a remake of Xtreme the fan game will be in the spirit of it.

    Policenauts Translation

Game's script has been translated and hacking is being done to get the translation into the game.Hideo Kojima's masterful graphic adventure, Policenauts. Started in 2002.

    Sega Gaga Translation

Set in the year 2025, the story depicts Sega with only a 3% share of the market. In Ōta, Tokyo (where Sega was first set up in Japan 1951), the company forms 'Project Segagaga': a plan to save SEGA from its main competitor. A translation is currently being worked on , though no update has been made since May '08

Metroid 2 Remake and Metroid Confrontation.

Metroid 2 completely redone. As a example of whats to come a demo showcasing the art and engine that will be used in the game is available for download. A new one was just released Oct 15. You need to experience it.

OoT2D is something I still am waiting for. One guy tried to do Ocarina of Time in 2D, SNES style. Unfortunately, Nintendo found out about it, and he lost his homepage, www.oot2d.com. Anyone heard of he still is working on it, under Nintendo's radar?

The Samurai Shodown RPG translation seems to be almost finished. I'm really looking forward into playing that one. Also the Segagaga translation is one I'm waiting for to come out.

I don't tend to bother with translations as they typically require me to use an emulator, which kind of defeats the purpose. I'd love to try out Segagaga and Policenauts, though.

for my independent study during my final semester in the spring, I'm going to attempt to make Sim Ant 2 by myself

I'll be using C++ with opengl libraries, as well as 3d models exported from maya. I think its a cool idea.

Taking old nes/snes games and making them 3d is an extremely fun method for getting good grades in school. Professors seem to love it.

you mean Beats of Rage - a remake of the "Streets of Rage Game Engine". Its like another Remake of SoR but support fan-made-mods. Its pretty good and was ported to many systems like Windows, DC, PS2, GP32, PSP, PocketPC...
Just like Streets of Rage Remake its free to download too but i like the Streets of Rage Remake a bit more because its a perfect remake from the Original and has very cool remixed Music!

I remember eagerly waiting for Grand Theftendo, the NES demake of GTA.
    Brian probably shelved it, though...

Is it just me, or haven´t I read that one of the two Zelda 2D remake remakers is dead , gone and buried ? Or else, I must be mixing something up. Since all those things you read can confuse a person, and I am not that easy to confuse.

Oh yeah how could I forget Grand Theftendo, looked like it could have been a really cool project.

I'm like 99% sure they released a early build of OoT2D as I know I tried some homemade Zelda game once, but I can't say if this was by someone else. Will have to check my computer when I get home, might still have it.

IIRC the guy working on OoT2d faked his own death because of people bothering him about the game.
