Just finished doing a bunch of stuff on my AES. First thing I did was redo the AV port mod that I attempted a while back; I tried to replace the original 270 degree DIN jack with a 262 degree one (same used in the model 1 Genesis/MD and SMS) about a year ago, but I desoldered it using braid and I pulled a couple of pads that way. So, I hot glued it upside down and it held up pretty decently. Now that I have a proper desoldering station, I cleared out the solder pads for the DIN jack, removed the hot glued jack and properly soldered it down right-side up. I also removed the 68 ohm resistors on the RGB signals and replaced them with jumper links so that when I use my Genesis RGB SCART cable, the picture isn't too dim.

Since I had my desoldering station out, I also decided to recap the entire console. It wasn't suffering from any problems, but I know the caps can be an issue on the AES so I replaced them as a precautionary measure. Most of them were TK brand caps which is an iffy quality brand, and all the caps I have in there now are a mix of Nichicons and Panasonics.

    Repaired my Samsung 2232BW monitor.

Bad caps in the PSU, so the screen flickered for awhile until the power settled. Recapped and all good, so recapped my other too (dual monitor ftw) as they are both the same model and age.

Just repaired my XBOX 1.2 power supply, which had cracked solder joints. I Noticed a weird rattle sound from the PSU when plugged in and system would just shut off. All running good now with some added solder.

"Repaired" a cracked PS1 game case. I went down to the second hand store, picked up a crap but un-cracked PS1 game in case for $3. The case was scratched up of course, so I used toothpaste to polish away the scratches. If you look closely, I've actually replaced the deep scratches with a bunch of fine scratches, but fine scratches are much less noticeable than deep scratches and there's no crack, so I'd say it's an improvement overall :p

Fixed a 10 bucks modchipped SCPH-5552 PS1.Apparently whoever modded it adjusted the laser pot to the point where it wouldn't spin at all.I fixed that,I just need a new spindle.(might get a broken 9002 and swap the lens over to the 5552)
Would make a thread about it but I don't know which section is dedicated for that :)

Alright, so I now got some money because of my army enlistment. But a new problem has appeared: this website doesn't seem to be working! D:
It says "no payment method" whenever I try to check out, so I can't check out. This happens regardless of the browser used (I tried Firefox and Internet Explorer).

Could somebody here please recommend me a good website that sells these fuses, preferably one with free/cheap shipping? I can find the common stuff like lasers and so on, but finding a place that sells compatible fuses... has been difficult. :(

The fuse/IC link/ICP that I need has "S3" and "245" written on it. The Sony SCPH-39000 series service manual says that its a 2A device.
The device measures 3mm x 2mm. I know basically nothing about these SMD IC links, so I don't really know what to look for (when searching for general components at electronics shops) either. :(

Time will never be on my side for these two years, so I can only rely on online shops at this moment.

    Thank you all!

    On topic:

I've fixed my two black PSPs (A PSP-2006 and one PSP-1006 unit). The slimline set fixed itself (oh no!) after I left it aside for months, while the other had its faceplate (with a worn-out screw thread) re-attached after I re-assembled the entire console (something wasn't screwed down properly).

Recently fixed up an old Vic 20 I got for $10

Cleaned up my SuFami, taking it apart, washing everything in a sink apart from the main board obviously and then reassembling it. My thumbs were numb from the faceplate tabs, as the tabs on my console were super stiff

And finally, I cleaned an old Pioneer Reverberation Stereo System

Needless to say, I've been busy...

Holy cow old thread! I should add a few recent repairs:
fixed a stuck laser on my TurboCD system, cleaned and relubed the gear and also modded one gear so it'd be less likely to crack. Recapped 2 Game Gears, recapped one Lynx, replaced the transistor on another Lynx that is known to fail and cause no power on issue. Also recapped TurboCD base system (what a pain in the ass with 3 PCB boards that can't be easily separated) and decided not to recap the CD drive itself. I'd sooner pay someone to recap that one.

Also fixed a 32X that I got for a song, the same old white cable problem so it was a quick and easy fix. :D

recapped my turbo express! Works perfect now!

    Also fixed a sega Cd.

Troubleshot 2 tgfx16 consoles that have the same issue of a bad RF modulator. Outputting with an AV cable from the expnsion port works great!

Not really a fix, but an upgrade.
I added some carbon wrap to the glossy parts of my PS3 super slim. Looks much better now, it's not so dusty and there are no scratches at all.

Replaced the dead battery in Game Gear battery pack 2105 with a new pack that is just exactly the same size. Sega used the standard shot-gun package that were common in RC toys of the day and it's still in use today so new battery is easy to find.

The original wire is very thick, probably because it was designed for RC toys that expects high current draw while GG uses maybe 300mA. I transferred the foam padding (one ripped near the wire connection end) and it fits inside just fine despite thick wire. I bought beefier 1800mAh to get a little longer play time per charge.

Also replaced a fuse in my Turboexpress. I blew the original fuse somehow when I was trying to do LCD mod. It works fine now.

Fixed my Duo-R that had a glitchy graphic that only showed up when playing certain CD games. HuCard games and many CD games didn't use the extra 64K RAM that Duo (and System 3.0 card) offered. No schematic for any Duo model either so I kind of had to blind probe for problem.

Thanks to a file on pcefx forum, I was able to quickly check and found one apparent open trace between CD controller chip and the RAM chips

"smallest" repair job I have ever attempted, those pins on the CD chip is only 0.25mm wide. I used AWG-30 wires to connect the RAM chip pin to the CD chip to get around unseen break on the trace (trace goes under the chip and couldn't be checked anyway)
