Just finished cleaning up my SCPH-5552 console I got from ebay a while back.

Was pretty dirty and had a strong piss like smell :/
I ended up going super turbo with the cleaning. Every single part of the machine got a full service.
Looks and smells really nice now.

    Also;
    - Replaced the whole laser/drive assembly with a brand new one.
    - Fitted an MM3 Stealth Modchip.
    - Through in two blue LED's purely out of boredom. Power button, and under the drive.

I'm happy with the result. Looks really nice now.

    Pictures aren't exactly great though.

Fixed my GBC with a Wii remote speaker had to mod the inside of the GBC just like you mentioned. Think of adding a back light some day. Also fixed a third party SNES controller and a 360 where the tray would not open or read discs.

I took my SCPH-77006 Playstation 2 console apart to look at the chips on it, but took at as a chance to fix up the eject button that had been sticky for a really long time.

I've also bridged the PS010 fuse (Responsible for the 12v power to the HDD bay) on the GH-022 mainboard of my SCPH-39006, since I couldn't find a replacement IC Link for it. I'll replace it properly if I ever find a compatible IC link though. :/

And then I tried (once again) to fix the weird noises (made as if it's just badly greased) that console makes when the tray is ejected... but I still can't fix it.

When the cover is removed, the noise disappears. When pressure is applied to the mounts of the drive on its left (beside the heat sink), the sound comes back. :/

Thanks, but I was aiming to get the part locally, since I didn't want to spend so much on a console that is basically crapping out a piece at a time. (I really don't know why... but its plastic feels really cheap and it breaks easily. :/ It belongs to the first generation of Playstation 2 consoles to be made in China too, I think)

But this shop offers free shipping, doesn't it? That's what I need... so I'll think about it. Thanks!

Just successfully did trace pair on a 1.0 xbox motherboard. The green lights weren't working, so first I replaced the LEDs, but that didn't help so that's when I took a closer look and discovered the corrosion.

Make sure you get rid of the source of the corrosion and save yourself from a TRUE fire hazard.

Remove the 1F supercap for the clock.

I have a similar issue but with a 1.4. I get the x3 boot frag error.

I successfully read the EEPROM. While doing that I turned over the board and noticed a tiny, tiny dot on one of the traces, I'll have to tin that up and see if she'll fire up.

Replaced a shoulder button on a Game Boy Micro. Works as good as new - actually even a bit better, less travel = faster response = better feel. Also made a couple of GameCube-to-GBM cables/adapters.

Reflashed one Xbox's BIOS to finally make full use of the larger HD I had trown in there some months ago earlier. Fixed whatever was wrong with another Xbox's HD by hotswapping and rebuilding.

Exchanged my Libretto 50CT subnotebook's HD for a CF card w/ adapter. No moving parts left now - the thing is completely silent! Lovin' it! Well, there's some faint white noise from the speaker when I boot into Windows (some driver issue), that's not a big issue though since I mostly run DOS games on it.

Upgraded a flashlight from 270 to 800 lumen by switching out the LED (and using in a beefier battery).

Currently poking around the insides of a Game Gear trying to do the LED-backlight mod, and waiting for a sold-as-spares Gizmondo in the mail.

Just replaced the batteries in two of my Game Boy games. I foolishly bought a 2-coin cell holder, so I had to improvise making another battery holder. I soldered some 30AWG wire on the bottom for the positive, and put back the top tab. A little tape, works great.

Now I wonder if there can be an alternate way to power an SNES instead of that bulky adapter. Somebody hacked in an iPod charger, but that looks very complicated.

Well my Sega Gamegear just shut off on me out of know where , I was pretty upset while playing Sonic as it is anyways. So I got to thinking , why would my Gamegear just die on me?

Well it's because it's old and such. So I took out the old batteries and replaced it with some new ones and I am now good to go again , Round 2 SONIC!

    Yeap I am a pro I know.

awesome repair, you should do a tutorial video on youtube just to help everyone else out that may be struggling with SPL syndrome(sudden power loss)

    - been tinkering all day. so decided to pull out the megadrive mk1 and re-do my audio mod and tidy things up a bit.

so instead of taking the audio Left and Right from the headhone jack or the headphone amp output (sony CXA1034P) pins 11 and 14(i think), i decided to take it non amplified from pins 1 and 8.

re routed the wiring and resecured the 50/60hz switch(was a bit loose just glued it in place)
i put the second flap from the cart slot back on as i had this off because it was catching on my previous wiring and sticking open. (fixed that too)
glued the broken volume slider in place (didnt work anyway) just for aesthetics and to keep dust out.
tidied up the cart slot that i widened previously to enable use of Japanese carts as it was a bit rough.

all i got left to do now is adjust and permanently set the actual front audio volume as the slider mech(slide pot) is broken too, the previous owner figured it was a good idea to superglue the thing so when i opened case up when i got it, SNaAP!
anywho thats not bothering me as i use RCA jacks on the Rear for Stereo sound.

    very happy with it

Reflow on 2 RROD 360's I had laying around, and new power jack on an SNES where it was damaged (Although it still doesn't work).

Still have to clean the pins on one original NES, and replace the pins with new ones on another where the pins are bent and crap.

A really simple repair, but I fixed a wireless Xbox 360 controller that would lose power when it was bumped. My instinct was saying "the battery contacts are dirty!" but I figured it couldn't be that, since I don't recall getting my greasy fingers all over them, and the controller isn't old enough to have built up grime like an old game cartridge. But anyway, I gave the contacts a quick clean with Brasso and isopropyl alcohol. And now it works fine. :05.18-flustered:

Put a turbografx16 that i bought as working, and ended up giving garbled graphics when playing, dissambled the machine, open the EMI shields, and cleaned the whole board with isopropyl alcohol, good as new :) and blazing lazers is a kick ass game
