Noticing that "The Heineken" Gamecube LE has floated to the top lately like a pubic hair in a public loo, I wondered what really was the worst LE console? Which manufacturer over egged the pudding and made a garish, cluttered hash of it, or which console really had so little done to it (witness The Heineken) that they clearly couldn't be bothered? Discuss... Post your images please! (It is also perfectly okay to love the bad consoles, so feel free to admit that you own one!)
Personally I wouldn't be caught dead with the pikachu nintendo64, but thats just me because it probably looks very cute for the kids. Just from a collecting point of view bleh Same thing for the Hello Kitty Dreamcast and all the girly/kiddy consoles out there.
I'd say the worst "Limited Edition" is the Platinum Gamecube. http://www.toysnjoys.com/gamecube/ngcplatinum.jpg It is in no way "Limited", they seem to be easier to find than any other color in the Gamecube rainbow. There must be nearly a million of them! :banghead: I hope that towards the end of the life of the Gamecube they took that bit off the packaging, but I don't know if they did. I for one like my Heineken cube quite a lot. It is simple, but it is also unusual! One day I'd like to own a six-pack of Heineken cubes! Though I suppose the more of you there are out there who don't like it will just make that "dream" easier and cheaper to accomplish.
Pikachu N64 Halo Airbrush Xbox Custom RX-78 Dreamcast (sorry DC fanboys ) and the Pokemon GBA SP's, they're just lacking imagination if you ask me.
Agree with port187, I can't stand the Pikachu N64 and the Hello Kitty Dreamcast (specially the pink version, looks like some cheap chinese clone). The brazilian Master System Girl was pretty ugly too, thought I'm not sure if it was a limited edition.
I personally hate the bright coloured N64's. Who the hell would want an orange console? The smoke black one is very slick though. On another note I always found see through consoles and handhelds interesting. I remember looking closely at all the insides of one of these:
Apart from hating the N64's design in general (and I even grew up with one as my first and only console for a long time, no opinion blurred by nostalgia here!) I found the Pikachu one embarassing not only for kids but for gaming in general, LOL. It looks like a dirt-cheap kiddie learning-computer. Fuck. @c-rpg I love clear consoles, the Skeleton Saturn is amazing to look through (seeing the CD spinning et cetera). The midnight blue PS2 is one of my favourite PS2's - and predestined for LED-modding.
Yeah, the only reason I'd own a Pikachu N64 is because it was outrageously cheap and I needed to make a couple bucks. Most LE consoles released in the USA are quite boring. They're usually not THAT limited and end up just being mainstream.
Add another vote from this guy. It has nothing to do with the childish nature of it, I think the Hello Kitty Dreamcasts look pretty nice for what they're worth (although I'd never want to own one), but this thing just looks like cheap crap.
It's odd that the Pikachu N64 is mentioned so much as it is one of the few consoles that is in a different case, it's a damn sight better then most LE consoles are just a slightly different coloured case and maybe some text or graphics printed on it... Personally I think the Playstation Millionth Edition or the Toyota Dreamcast are worse machines mainly as they go for a lot and aren't really that much different...
Yeah, it's a laugh for anyone who spots it  Seriously, having a different case doesn't make this crime on taste any better. When I spend big money on a limited item I want it to look good. The Gundam GC looks excellent, so does the Gundam PS2. The Pikachu N64 has glowing cheeks... LOL I quite like the design of the 10m PS to be honest, it has a kinda "rough" surface like the Yaroze one if I'm not mistaken!? At least it looks rough. The Toyota Dreamcast and any other console that had only a plate on it or similar is for collector's sake and not something w/display value, so I wouldn't count them in for our little design contest. In terms of "edition", it might offer the "worst content" though.
the pikachu n64 i got for 5 dollars at a goodwill. But I'm a pokemon fan, the cheeks light up, has a pokeball for the power switch...what's NOT to like?
