The thing that really astounds me is that people still think that Mhz is a meaningful comparison when we're trying to compare two completely different processors... And yes, that AVGN video is useless.
Wow, never thought this thread would've ever get bumped, but anyways yeah now speaking of AVGN's videos, now about his Sega CD one. I love it how he thinks that Sega made the add-on to compete with Nintendo! (sarcasm) jeez *Facepalm* i'm guessing him & his fannies didn't know the "REAL" reason why it was made. (cuz just so they could or "tried" competing with the PC-Engine CD/Turbographix-16 CD for those that never knew but i'm sure you guys know this since Day 1) besides the point, he only picked on the FMV side of it's games which is okay though but to say the ENTIRE Library of the add-on was full of that shit tells me you really don't know Jack SHIT about it & it's games completely!
Seriously? How many times must this be repeated on these forums alone? The AVGN is a character. Any review or video he does as the AVGN should not be taken seriously as actual level-headed reviews of the game or hardware he is looking at, as he will just try to throw humor into it even if he is stretching the truth. The opening post you made in this thread judging his video where he compares the SNES vs. Genesis is his real review, out of the nerd character, so that one you can judge harshly. The other videos (such as the Sega CD one) are him as the nerd trying to make you laugh, not give you a boring 100% factual layout of the games/hardware. I owned both a SNES & Genesis growing up, & I have always liked the SNES more. Nobody needed to tell me to feel that way. The experience did.
Genesis vs SNES pretty much all comes down to what games you prefer. If you're a big JRPG fan, the SNES has better RPGs than the Genesis (Phantasy Star notwithstanding), if you prefer sports games, the Genesis' EA titles and Segas own blow the SNES collection out of the water. If you like the 6 button controller without shoulders, the Genesis pad is far superior to any third party one for the SNES. Both systems have a plethora of well made games that take advantage of the hardware (the Genesis is faster, the SNES has a richer color palette). Comparing good games on one system to crap ones on another will get you nowhere. That said, James has always shown himself to be more of a Nintendo fan, outside of the AVGN character. It takes serious dedication to have a basement literally full of NES titles.
Yeah you guys are right and i apologise for that. i've kinda did figure he wasn't going for 100% factual/accurate info as he's only doing it for entertainment but my biggest grip to what my original meaning by when i said about his Sega CD review is that most other YouTubers & viewers takes this stuff seriously and "Actually" tries to tarnish it like it was really the worst of mankind to ever exsist! P.S Which you think is better? FM Towns Marty or SNES? personally I'd go for FM Towns Marty ;-) they have the more visually better looking games imho. P.S.S how about a Nec PC-9801 vs Sega Mega Drive/Genesis battle next? since both have those FM synth type music in their games sometimes and also the graphics looks nearly identical almost sorta.
