First time I've ever watched a World Cup game. Cool stuff. Professional boxing is where it's at though.
Yeah, Mexico pretty much stops whenever the national team is playing. I see that Uruguay and Brazil do so to. Is this a Latin America thing? At my university, they had me suspend my class so my students could go watch the game. Really fucking stupid, if you ask me. I was rooting for Mexico to lose so that I can continue with my program and not have my students use the match as an excuse not to hand in quality work. Oh well. Obviously, Uruguay is going to mop the floor with us, so let's hope for France-South Africa to win by a huge difference and send Mexico packing.
I know this sounds cruel, but I actually Hope that Denmark is getting their arses kicked tomorrow when they play against Cameroon.
Well... this is awkward I wouldn't mind rooting for Mexico if: 1) The national team were made of more than just the children of rich former players who bought their places on the team (Dos Santos, Hernández) and mediocre millionaires (Ochoa, Osorio, Vela, Juárez, Márquez, though he seems to actually be playing this time). The only player I do like is Cuahutémoc. He is awesome, because he swears every time they interview him, and he has talked about the corruption of referees and whatnot on TV. 2) Their advance to the second round wouldn't just mean losing on the round of 16 like they always do. 3) My university wouldn't fucking interrupt me from doing my job, and kept focusing on the students' education instead of entertainment. There's like... three mexicans in the board, counting me. Where are you from, mate? And... why Mexico?
The US was robbed. The English team is turning into a massive embarrassment. WTF happened with Germany?! This is a weird world cup so far.
*Because it's nice to support an underdog as well. *Mexico played some attractive football in 2002&2006. *Nice shirts *Nice culture, flag, cuisine, festivals, laidback lifestyle (hey, this is coming from someone who's never been to mexico and more of a general feeling, feel free to proof me wrong Greetings from Holland
Why England can't play decently? Guys like Gerrard, Lampard and Rooney are fantastic players! I guess the coach is the problem. The first USA goal today was funny. The Slovenia goalkeeper seemed scared of the ball. I still don't get why the referee did that on the 3rd goal. Wasn't offside, foul or anything. Nice surprise by Serbia. Germany still is a great team, but will miss Klose on the next game
England and the US still control their own destinies, correct? The US plays Algeria and England plays Slovenia. Slovenia - 4 England - 2 USA - 2 Algeria - 1
As i stated the average level is rising at all world cups. All teams can win/lose to each other... too bad for US! bad mistake from the referee! But, hey, they could still qualify... i guess slovenia will go for a draw with england and US will win... That would send england home... O_O also a draw from uruguay and mexico would send france home...
Don't worry about the french, they will come home soon anyway, with the very bad mood they're in at the moment, Anelka insulted the coach during the half-time of France-Mexico (actually he's not part of the french team as of this morning), some players hate each one another, I think South Africa will win the last match of the group A... That's not a mock-up cover, it's the real one of today's newspaper...
Lol, I had to look up "enculer qn.", but the rest of that insult is already enough. Who does he think he is btw? Not everything's up to the coach, and he was also everything but an excellent player in that match.
Heh, yeah, They played quite alright in 2002... and ended up losing to our Arch-Rivals, the US. That really, really hurt. 2006 was passable. The best mexican team so far has been '86, methinks. And yeah, the new uniform is pretty cool - I wouldn't mind having the black jersey. I still have my 2002 jersey, and it's pretty comfy to wear as pajamas, even more so as I've lost weight with all these years. Mexico's culture has changed a bit lately, though. My city is home to most of the international image of Mexico: Mariachi, Tequila, and Sombreros were invented in or near Guadalajara. Yet GDL is grey and boring since a few years back (except in november, when we have the International Book Fair). Still, people from Monterrey and other cities are traditionally Laid Back - but people from Guadalajara have become a bunch of self-righteous hypocrites lately. That's really, really sad. But yeah, our food is fucking awesome - and it's served VERY differently in other parts of the world. Should you ever want to visit Mexico, and eat REAL tacos, or go on a Tequila binge, you're more than welcome to crash at Xerdo's for a few days. As we say, mi casa es su casa, bro.
