well I can't say Jaguar as there are games I enjoy for it and it did have a good version of Rayman. I'd say Lynx
There. Jaguar is totally useless. (Shouldn't you know about this one, Mr. Sega Guru?) Heres my obligatory opinions on what has been said so far plus some new ones. Lynx is great. Seriously. Have you ever played one. Damn. It's all good. CD32 Great. All that Amiga Software is a hoot if you're an american who never really got it. 3DO, garbage. 2600 is the worst Atari console. Odyssey 2 is terrible, so is INTV. Also, 2600 is Atari's worst console. The games are miserable.
AVP on the Jaguar makes it not useless. Also, I prefer the Jag port of Zool 2 over the CD32 (yes, I'm saying it). I agree with you on everything else, except 3DO and 2600. 3DO has some great games, and the 2600 isn't my favorite, but has good games as well
I feel I should have thought more before I mentioned 2600. There are SOME things worth my while: ie: Pitfall 2, Solaris, uhh....Warlords... My issue is that much of what is good on 2600 is done much better elsewhere. Also, the consoles are as ugly as sin. The platforms of that generation that I didn't mention, Atari 8 Bit and Colecovision are my early 80s poisons of choice. Everything is better on those platforms. I haven't been able to touch 2600 since I've gotten into Atari 8 bit computers.
Out of the systems I've played I'm going to have to go with the Jaguar. That thing was obsolete from the day it shipped.
Yeah, I know about the Saturn Tepest 2000. I even have it on PAL it disc only. The Jaguar Tempest game is much better though to tell the truth. yakumo
The Jaguar is pretty terrible a system given the hype it had, the fact it had very few games worth a damn (and if I recall even those were pretty terrible such as Myst and DOOM as well as being ports in that example). But truely, truely the worst console must be the CD-I. The controller was absolutely horrible and the hardware was better intended as the interactive VideoCD format it was designed for. Really this is what takes the cake for me: Phillips managed to secure the ability to produce Mario and Zelda games without the risk of Nintendo suing the pants off of them. Two franchises that, if marketed correctly, would be killer apps and might pull developers to the CD-I. But what did they do? Produce some of the worst games known to man that are mocked to this day. Even ET for the 2600 was a better game when you factor in that the devs were rushed. The Jaguar was lacking in software. The CD-I was DOA and found ways to further dig its grave.
Oh, c'mon! The CD-I had the best mini golf game ever! The Wacky World of Miniature Golf featuring Eugene Levy. So great... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQ_t1sgU8B4 I used to play it at my cousin's house all the time. And the graphics are SUH-WEET. EDIT: STRRRROKE LIMIT.
Wii. Have to say I've got a LYNX 2 and quite a few games for it (loads still sealed) and it's quite nice, though one VERY annoying problem is that it takes 6 AA batteries and 30 minutes later needs 6 more! :/
Why not? I mean almost all games on the CD32 were 1:1 ports from Amiga with maybe a FMV/intro added. If there is any 32bit worthy game on the CD32 please let me know!
I wasn't being negative about the 3D0, but the 3D0, like NUON, is a standard that companies used to base their consoles upon. And after reading this thread... man there were loads of shitty consoles...
I vote for any of those "system-in-a-controller" clones, or the Wii knockoffs they sell at mall kiosks. That and Dreamcast, Dreamcast, Dreamcast.
