Wow, that screen looks smaller than both, the Saturn and 3DO version of Doom. That must have been one hell lot of fun to play on a small TV like most kids had back in the early 90's.

Let's derail this thread for a bit: How about this?

Systems you got (or worth getting) for only ONE GAME?

    How about:

I think the Virtual Boy is well worth getting just for Wario Land. It's not the only good game for it though :)

Any console could be the worst when it has an FMV game inside it.
Jag was... not my favorite. I certainly sent my mint boxed one to Japan for trade for a reason.

    I certainly bought a PS3 originally/mainly because of Gran Turismo 5.
Come to think of it, I got a PS2 even though my brother had one in the other bedroom because I wanted to play GT3 without having to get kicked-off the damn thing.

My vote for the worst game console ever goes to game.com. It sounds so stupit to release another portable console to compete Gameboy...in 1997(!) to have a hardware so awful that made Gameboy looks like a PSP. And its commercial is one of the most ridiculous videogames commercials I've ever seen:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dp460zM_PGA

And the second place for me goes to Virtual Boy for many obvious reasons.

I honestly believe that people are entitled to their opinions based on their own user experience, but I simply cannot understand how people can hate the Vboy this much. Mine has been hooked up and sitting on my desk ever since I moved into this place 5 years ago. And I play it regularly.

Yeah I'm having a hard time picking a worst for that very reason. Every console that I have owned I have had a certain fondness for based on even a few fleeting moments of fun.

Honestly my least favorable memories come from the NES, but it's clearly a decent system.

Of the console that I bought, the most disappointing was the N64, solely based on the games available that were interesting for me. I think the Game Cube was worse for me, but after the N64 I didn't have very high expectations from a Nintendo console anymore. (Mostly bought it for Resident Evil 4, and really only got the RE games, Killer 7, Beach Spikers and Donkey Konga.) Going from the greatness that was the SNES to N64 was brutal, though.

Cd32 or Jaguar. Horrible systems that were just a let down.

I'm with ServiceGames on this one.
The Virtual Boy was much better than many people make it to be. It had good games and was very innovative for its time.

I'm not calling it "best console ever" or an underrated gem or anything like that, but it is a really fun piece of hardware and very interesting to own.

    Plus, moderately cheap to collect.

I also loved the virtual boy, i remember playing mario tennis for hours as a kid.

My vote for worst console would probably be the Jaguar, if only for the controller, and the controller overlays that i seemed to constantly lose.

The reasons I consider VB as one of the worst consoles ever have been also mentioned from AVGN:
    http://www.gametrailers.com/video/angry-video-screwattack/30755

And I have personally tried it at Moboros' house who owns one and one-two minutes were enough to have a nice pain in the eyes and the head. I wonder, do you have the eyes of an alien and you can enjoy it regurarly? Another fact I hate about VB is that its failure was the reason that Gunpei Yokoi had left Nintendo (althought it was Nintendo's fault for rushing the release of VB and giving it the green light). The only value it has is that it looks very cool for your collection.

That's a bit harsh. Yes the system is highly flawed, but it's not fair to write off the whole line (especially if you've only played a minority of the games). Speaking as an expert in the field of crappy Asian knockoff handhelds, I can testify that the Gamate does have a few relatively fun titles. Top of the list would be treasure Hunter, a well programed and challenging Lode Runner clone. Also worth a mention would be Enchanted bricks (not brick blaster), Marauder, Famous 7, and Tornado.

I have to admin that after reading this article I got a better opinion about Virtual Boy:

    http://www.1up.com/do/feature?cId=3181471

Sure, I won't agree with editor 100% but he has some point here and there. And I discovered that there are more fans of this console than I expected. But, boy, I still have this question: how comes you never had a headache after playing much more than 10 minutes? o_O

I found the ergonomics of the VB more irritating than any eye strain, to be honest.

    Wii and Virtual Boy

Never have I been so uninterested and wary of playing a console. They can both cause physical injury! Thanks Nintendo, you sure do factor in the safety of your customers...going blind, back problems, and breaking your furniture. Priceless.

The Wii had so much potential to be a step up ever since Nintendo sorta fell by the wayside of the console market with N64 and GameCube. But no...they gotta appeal to every man, women, child, cat and dog on the planet. For starters, the graphics! I mean marginally better than the PS2 and XBOX, but would it have too much to spend a bit more time developing the graphics?! Sure the motion controls are nice n all, but can't I get some exceptionally better than last-gen graphics?

Third problem, shit titles...my god, shit titles everywhere. Yeah pretty much every console has this problem to some degree, but when you start seeing this stuff on clearance at Wal-Greens and Big Lots...then its time to reevaluate your business strategy. Also its pretty low to be selling games you could play for free online at incredibly dumb prices.

Have you ever played Wii by any change? If you did, then you wouldn't spread all these bullshit. Why am I saying that? Because there is a damn thing called "instructions manual" that it's included in every Wii console, every Wii game...but you know something? Screw that! Even if you're not from these lazy scumbags who toss away the instructions when you start playing ANY game on Wii the first thing you see are the intruction screen(s) about safe playing. If you're so idiot to ignore it then it's not Nintendo's fault. Nintendo is considered even if you play too much hours when you see on games like Wii Sports and Super Galaxy 2 screens like "How about taking a break to have a rest?".

In your case you're either an idiot, an unsuccessful troll or a hater. Which one is it?
