Well, would you rather they release an inferior version on the older hw only, or release on both so people start bitching about how they "have" to buy shit twice? I'm with you on the outright cancellations though.
Some of what I consider bad game company fails: Sony removing OtherOS from PS3 (ironically that probably increased the amount of piracy on the system thus having the exact opposite effect to what Sony wanted). Nintendo cancelling the SNES CD and basically handing victory in the 5th console generation to Sony and the PlayStation Nintendo continuing to have mandatory region locks for physical media on their systems when both Sony and Microsoft no longer have region locks for physical disks (or at the very least the developers get to decide which regions to encode the disks for). Even worse was adding region locks to the 3DS when no previous Nintendo handheld had region locks (I do wonder why they did that) Microsoft having a lame brained DRM strategy and other policies that single-handedly handed the lead in the current console generation to Sony Sony making Ghostbusters: The Video Game limited-time PlayStation exclusive in Europe/Australia (all it did was cause XBOX 360 players to either pirate or grey-import a non-region-locked US copy and PC players to just pirate) Nintendo's strict censorship policies (even today Nintendo is probably more strict than anyone else when it comes to what is allowed on their systems) EA and the direction from on-high that all EA titles must have always-on internet multiplayer BS. This gave us the abomination that is the latest SimCity game, the unplayable abomination that is Command & Conquer 4 (I got that game for FREE and I still haven't bothered to play through it) and the whole Generals 2 saga (where the game fans wanted wasn't the game the top brass at EA would let the developers make and so the game was axed) Activision Blizzard (and its subsidiaries and component companies) for canceling (or cancelling-then-offloading-to-someone-else) so many titles over the years including Babylon 5: Into the Fire and the aformentioned Ghostbusters game. Atari and Frontier (and whoever else is involved these days) for stiffing fans of the Rollercoaster Tycoon franchise. Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 was awesome (probably the best theme park simulator I have ever played) but everything since has been junk. Fans want a proper simulation title, not something more "simplified" and crap. Oh and fans want proper mod support to let you place your own content into the game (I should know on that last one since I was the guy who initially created 3rd party mod tools for Rollercoaster Tycoon and was never able to figure out the billions of unknowns in the file formats, never even figured out the animation stuff) Nintendo for their policies on 3rd parties (i.e. restrictions on the number of games a developer could release, exclusivity requirements etc) Atari for their involvement in the saga of the aformentioned Ghostbusters game. Sega for making (or allowing to be made) the nearly-unwatchable Sonic cartoon I saw the other day (I think its called Sonic Boom). Its sad that the best game with Sonic in it that I have seen in quite a while is a Mario game (Super Mario Maker). Microsoft for promising some sort of way to use a retail XBOX One console to develop stuff and not delivering on that promise (and changing what they plan to deliver so its not what they originally said but is much crappier)
Good news for you, they pretty much completely revamped the new RCT game so it will be more like 1-3 than wtf has come since. I'm pretty excited for it honestly. I played the crap out of 1 and 2.
But will this new game give you the custom content support that people like me have wanted since RCT3?
Konami's refusal to make anything other than Metal Gear,(I personally have been waiting for a new Gradius and Zone of the Enders for ages now.) then having a falling out with Kojima. Great job guys, lets systematically destroy every series that makes us money.
The funny thing, is everyone acts as if the Silent Hills Pachinko machine is a new thing... It's not. Way back in 2011, Konami completely killed my faith in them with this little gem:
Street Fighter V is the worst (new) thing possible IMO. I was surprised in the SF4 days because Wii didn't got a version. But this is even worst.
I think it was more the timing than anything else. I for one was aware that they use their IPs in machines like this, it was just really bad timing. Soon after Silent Hills get the ax, we get that Pachinko machine rubbing our faces in it. Then seeing a higher-res James Sunderland that could have been in the buggy mess that was Silent Hill HD Collection... it all just felt like a big betrayal. I mean, it is going to PC and PS4. They could have just made it exclusive to the PS4. I have a feeling the game is going to be disappointing, anyway.

Nintendo's failure to make the Virtual Console even worth mentioning. Nintendo's continual failure to respond to market shifts eg high-res graphics with PS2 and Xbox, internet play with PS3 and XB360 (and HD graphics again... come on) Sony suing Lik-Sang into the ground.
I don't remember the thread, but I distinctly remember telling the board that Capcom is full of lies when it comes to console exclusivity. RE4 was going to be GC only. It's since been on, in order, *deep breath* PS2, PC, Wii, PS3, 360, and PC again. This time next year we'll probably be waiting for the RE4 Xbox 1 and PS4 release.
literally all they had to do was release Brawl in HD without tripping. That's all they had to do. Everyone would have loved it. The new game modes suck, the new characters suck, the new challenges suck. Doesn't even have a story mode. Completely unenjoyable as a single player or 2-player co-op game. Melee and Brawl introduced new characters with exciting new gameplay mechanics while maintaining the same fun atmosphere. Smash 4 introduced new characters just for the sake of having new characters. Nothing of value was added, only content numbers that look good on paper but do nothing for the actual gameplay. The game is simply not as fun as previous releases.
