It was simply the most mainstream press conference Microsoft could have possibly come up with.

    - TV
    - Movies
    - EA Sports
    - CoD
    - The NFL and Fantasy Football

Obviously this show wasn't targeting the gamers that post in web forums like this...

Hopefully some cool games will be announced at E3.

Everything was being saved for E3, it just shows how much they DON'T have. Can't complain really since it's 2 weeks away from E3, so let's hope it's actually good for gamers.

The unit looks like a VCR, but to be honest I like the way the unit looks.

I thought they confirmed that the hard drive cannot be removed. It will only allow external hard drives.

I really don't want to connect a camera and microphone up that will be watching my living room at all times.

If you want to do that, more power to you, I'm not going to criticize you for it: enjoy the Xbox One.

Personally, I haven't seen anything regarding this console that makes me interested. I don't really care about the graphics increase from 360->One, the new features seem like fluff unrelated to playing games, and I don't like the new restrictive caveats that are being paraded by Microsoft as "features."

As far as being a "gamer" goes, well, they haven't announced any gamer-oriented titles, either. Maybe more interesting stuff will come out at E3, but as far as right now goes, I simply haven't seen any reason to purchase this other than "it's the next games console." If I'm going to buy a games console for the sake of buying a games console I don't already own, there are plenty of other consoles I don't own that I could spend my money on: an Atari, Master System, Virtual Boy, Jaguar, PC Engine, 3DO, etc...

There is a reason my sentence didn't end where you made it seem to in the quote.

Here is what I said, again.

"Just because it will have some good games on it doesn't mean we will put up with stuff like mandatory kinect & used games being charged for."

The main problem with what we have seen with the new Xbox has to be the used games fiasco. That alone is enough to make me not want this new Xbox, and yes, I like games. *face-palm*

The mandatory kinect "feature" is just yet another unlikeable idea for me. It is an inconvenience because I would choose not to use it, & if every game plans on using it in some fashion then I am even more uninterested. However, I doubt that will be the case, and instead will just be a camera & microphone there for no reason while I play Street Fighter or Halo.
Your suggestion of throwing it behind the cabinet would be the wisest if you really wanted to buy this pos for some reason, but do you think that is such a great solution when it could be unplugged and boxed up?

Also, your reference to the Wii's sensor bar being a inconvenience makes no sense to me, & doesn't seem to have anything to do with the discussion at hand.

So you leave your consoles switched on at all times?

Hmmm Well, since it requires a connection to the internet just to play a damned game and I can no longer share games with friends when we go and hangout at each others places, I must say that its time to invest in a good laptop and work on my custom PC some more since I don't really feel like dealing with this bull$ or Sony's bull$. Maybe I will buy it when I can play games offline.

If this is true, I simply cannot buy it. It won't matter what games are available for it or even if I want to ignore the Kinect-side of things; it is a security and privacy risk that 100% prevents its purchase here. If I can use the system with the Kinect unplugged, then I will let the used games question determine the sale. Until then, the Kinect issue IS a non-starter.

Which is not the part of the post I'm commenting on, hence not quoting it.

Like the Wii sensor bar is just a couple of LEDs there for no reason while I play New Super Mario Bros, or Super Smash Bros. (That's what it has to do with the discussion at hand, BTW. ;)

Exactly this. It isn't what the sony fanboys always says? "The more popular, the better"

At least the controller seems good. And they show more than video recording and facebook stupidity.

I'm really surprised about all the skype attention. This really explains why they choose skype and not the live messenger... =/

If it is plugged in, Kinect will be watching and listening...

I bet their stock is going to take a big dive. Even the xbox official forums had a whole 30 page thread about this BS. That is funny. Lots of people on the net are saying no XBOX ONE for them. Sorry Microsoft, but you done gone F'ed up.

I've always fancied myself a Sony guy anyways..

It's already been stated that that is what the case is, since you turn the machine on with "Xbox, turn on" while it is off and plugged in.

I'm not saying Ballmer is going to be listening to your private conversations while you eat dinner, but personally I just don't like the idea, on top of the fact that I still haven't been given an actual incentive to buy the damn thing in the first place other than "it's a games console"

That is a far more rational and believable way to say what you said.

You understand why I thought you sounded like a paranoid nut before! ;)

My concern with that would be how much power is thing using in standby? Voice processing isn't exactly a computationally cheap thing to do.

I didn't mean to sound like a lunatic; sorry if I came across that way.

But regardless, I think there are some privacy concerns that anyone owning the thing should be aware of. I'm not saying that I think they would do it, but it irks me that at any time they could release a system update that could spy on my house, and since the machine will likely be very closed down, I could never know about it if they did it. Not saying that they would, but the possibility certainly exists, and it doesn't sit well with me. It isn't the sole reason I won't be purchasing it, but it certainly doesn't help.

You are really equating the sensor bar of a Wii that might not be required for certain controls in certain games (which is very rare for the Wii) to a camera and microphone that would be connected & active at all times (and even a little active when the console is off!) for any game that I would play on the new Xbox? If only you were joking, but your sincerity dashes any hope of that. They don't equate, and therefor it isn't relevant to this discussion.

The new system also will not support old controllers.

The new ones will not work on PC I heard to prevent use on steam....

Also xbox live will vanish very fast and no redownloading of dlc, patches or arcade games.

500gb HD, AMD x86 64bit cpu, unknown gpu that it most likely close to what we will see in newer AMD APU's, 8gb of ram.

Please let there be linux for this thing!

Also, don't you guys remember when we said all of the same things about the 360 and PS3? NXE was a big deal too. Microsoft will be fine, they are catering to their biggest income (CoD players) and trying to pull in more casual gamers. Does it suck for us? sure it does. But we aren't their biggest market, and they are a business.
