How so? Just because you can resell?

At least with the Wii U, you could easily transfer over all of your Wii content to your Wii U. FREE and use it as just as you would before. All the while having the opportunity to get Wii U VC versions of Wii VC games you already own for a small fee.


Sure Nintendo's system of tying things to hardware instead of an account is stupid. But it's no where near the level of stupid by MS and Sony IMO.

I, for one, will not be purchasing these new consoles. They are focusing more on TV, Skype and Facebook crap than the console itself. I'll just buy a PC.

 

The consoles before the current gen show exactly what went wrong. Too much dependency on the internet - DLC - DD games - and excessive multi-media- and "social" features. Plus the overdose and domination of the same generic "games" (if you even dare to call em that) made me go back to the fun and story-driven Japanese classics. My love for the older games grows even stronger while witnessing the demise of TRUE videogaming.

 

I hate to say it but I feel the exact same way.

What an ugly, ugly looking box. Is this the way design at MS is heading? First Metro, now this. If I get one I'm going to have to put it behind the TV or something because damn that's ugly.

If it requires Kinect then I'm definitely not getting it until they remove that. Kinect simply does not work. I don't care what they say they've done to it. I believed all that crap last time and it's on par with a PS2 eyetoy. I have never been able to play a Kinect game as intended. The only time I've seen one almost work alright was in a public area with a HUGE amount of space cleared around the players and lighting you'd see in a 1950s TV studio.

 

I'm more than happy with older consoles and emulators. No activation-schmacktivation, no fucking system updates, just pure definition of "plug and play". You just can't brick a famicom with system update, because there's none. Online games? Hardly play anything but a few classic FPS games, like Doom II, UT99-2004, Quake3. Used to play SSF4AE online but local guys playing way better than most online players and don't quit.
I'll buy a 3DS because there's some good games already, and it's nothing like that huge brick Vita, but i don't think i'll ever buy new XBox or PS4. At least before they will get hacked and will be cheaper than ice cream.

True. Compared to this though they're beautiful. It's like someone saw an old Sanyo VCR sitting on a curb and thought "let's bring that back!"

I rather like the physical appearance. No garish chrome panels, no fliptop lids or sliding doors, just a discreet black rectangular box, to blend in with your Bluray player/satellite box/cable box/DVR/VCR/other serious appliances. I keep my PS3 and 360 behind a closed door in the cabinet when not in use. Partially because they're both ugly as sin, and also because I don't need to see them to remember that I own them. My black Wii sits beside the TV because it's so small and unassuming (and there's no room left in my cabinet...).

Effectively, this console, black Wii, and the fat PS2 are the only consoles I ever thought didn't look like toys. Don't get me wrong, I love Saturns, Dreamcasts, etc, but they still look like child play things on the outside.

As with the PS4, I'll buy one in a year or two after the hype dies down a bit, and I can get one for $400ish.

Stupid name, a joke of having to pay full price to use a 2nd hand game (Confirmed apparently), annoying Kinect and a fucking ugly design but then again every Sony console has looked like shit IMO but that's besides the point.

Just wait to see the games and final information.
