Nintendo still knows how to make good games. Anyone who owns one of these is already well aware of this.

Also, I think Nintendo has realized that they aren't getting by with selling a bajillion consoles at a profit. The Wii U is targeted more at hardcore gamers than at casuals, and I think Nintendo is aiming to have a good attachment rate for the Wii U.

Also, when Nintendo gets backed into a corner (as they are with a Wii U), that's when they go nuts. See the first holiday season for the 3DS. That shit was just... :excitement:

I only mentioned the Wii U, I'm well aware of how good the 3DS library is at the moment despite its bad start, just like the DS which IMO had a much better library than the Wii.

Well, my point is, Nintendo CAN still make a killer library. They just spent too much time on stupid shit with the Wii. I don't think the Wii U will have this problem though, as Nintendo is targeting a different demographic. Picking up the publishing rights to Bayonetta 2 was the first sign that this was the case.

Since my primary console is now the PC, the Wii U is looking like a strong contender as complimentary console. Unlike the Wii, it looks like there will be games there for non-nintendo fans such as myself.

The 2 Platinum games go a long toward this, as well as the recent partnership with SEGA.

Yeah definately, Nintendo's still got a bunch of golden IP's that they can dig up and resurface... but as for going up against the Xbox One and PS4, Nintendo has said that they don't want to compete. But I have hopes that the Wii U will do well in the future, they just need to get back onto the drawing board with a few certain aspects of the system in terms of the controller ( I'm not a fan of the Wii U pad, I have hopes Nintendo could do something like a modern and beefed up Wavebird controller ), marketing and just the overall image that they need to be certain of with the product.

Small amount of RAM some of you say, why?

8 GB (or 5GB) is a crapload for pretty much just about anything, with some clever coding you can extend that if you need to stream some huuuuuge ass textures into RAM, not to mention if you have some creative model builders/shaders too on your team.
Most gaming PCs still run swell on 2GB these days too if need be.

If Nintendo is really targeting a different demographic, they need to do a hell of a lot more than just pick up the publishing rights to the sequel of one mediocre game to show it. Like say...a new F-Zero.

It all depends on the particular games.
Mind you I haven't played with less than 3.3-4.0 GB RAM in years (XP32/Win7-64) but at least Windows 7 was good at tucking itself away when foreground apps (like games) needed more mem. Several contemporary games I ran than lived happily with 700-2000MB, so I don't see why 5000-ish would be a particularly limiting, especially when not shared with the OS.

Software dev houses have been spoilt for years by quickly increasing PC hardware resources, imho.

    Hello my friends!

I'm sorry, my inglish is very bad. No puedo entender que se le pasa por la cabeza a alguien para no incorporar la retrocompatibilidad, es de tonto no hacerlo.

I haven't looked through all 16 pages... So forgive me if I accidentally plagiarize. It looks like we are about to have another video game crash. The market saturation vs actual demand, is appalling. On top of that console manufacturers are turning the customer support down to an all time low. I have heard of 3ds's getting lost, and Nintendo snubbing customers for 100's of dollars worth of games. I have heard of most content developers requiring online connectivity. I have heard of not being able to resell games. I personally will not buy anything past my wii u, unless this stuff stops. Open consoles, older consoles, and android gaming is where I am firmly planting my roots. I hope we have another crash, and the bad customer service, online only static games, and shovel-ware will become a thing of the past.

Additionally, with the new high-end consoles, we aren't recieving anything more than rehashed , current generation PC hardware,(that will soon be last generation), for a select few games that won't be availible for PC. I might get more into PC gaming if most new games didn't require me to signup for a porthole.

    Meh, its all maddening.:disgust:

Cool thing is though is that there are more classic video games I own, than I could ever play for the rest of my life. I may just turn into a hermit and only play older games.

Xbox One own, no need to have post-press shit.

Sony probably need one, they have to explain why there's no innovation in their console.

sorry for being the baron of bad news, but.... Ms confirms 24 hour check in
    Quote:
With Xbox One you can game offline for up to 24 hours on your primary console, or one hour if you are logged on to a separate console accessing your library. Offline gaming is not possible after these prescribed times until you re-establish a connection, but you can still watch live TV and enjoy Blu-ray and DVD movies.
