XBOX new console is "Xbox one" no 360 backwards compatibility, 8 core, 500gb, 8gb ram

You know what really bothers me, is the people protecting it. Specially the Kinect aspect.

You MUST have the Kinect connected to the XboxOne at all times. Therefore the Kinect is on at all times. Now people say "just cover it up", why must I do that in the first place? Why can't I just not have the Kinect attached? People also said unplug it, which is stupid because you need it connected to the console for it to even work. Plus, if you use the TV passthrough, YOU NEED the console on at all times. Therefore, you will NOT be able to turn it off. Just so much crap for something so simple, DON'T INCLUDE IT!

 

I really don't get why Microsoft decided they needed to implement something heavy-handed like requiring internet connectivity in order to prevent software piracy. I mean, was piracy even a big issue for the 360? There were a lot of technical challenges when it came to pirating software on that console (which I don't think the average person were aware existed, let alone able to accomplish), not to mention the high chance of getting your console banned from Xbox Live if it's detected you're using modified hardware.


For a platform with high piracy rates like PC, sure, I can understand why publishers might want to go iron fisted. But the Xbox? Really?

 

The whole Kinect thing as well is just stupid. Like WHY is it required? There's no answers for that.

 

Piracy was a tad-easy, people gave games via GOD, JTAGs and RGH were simple to rip and use. There was also xk3y and flashing.

 

It's all about .... $$$ , Simple as that.

 

But was piracy on the 360 so rampant they had to take drastic measures that they knew they would cop flack for (as can be seen by the response to the rumors of always online prior to the Xbox One reveal)? It's not like playing copied software is as easy as the Dreamcast, there's a fair amount of work to do, work which would be beyond the average 360 owner.

 

It's really not about their Mobo being online , if the mobo can be hacked it will be. I am pretty sure it will , I am also pretty sure MS is going to lose this battle with PS and or Nintendo.

 

So? So is the Wii, you don't see Nintendo making stupid moves like Microsoft now do you?

 

Yarp. It's not so simple that your average random person can do it. (Hence why some people have others do it for them)
You still have to go through an ardious process to get there in the first place.

Unlike PC, where all you have to do is Google "Game X torrent" hit download and install it like a normal game.

 

Exactly! I would guess the Wii is just as hard to pirate games for as the 360 is, yet it's only the DS (which is SUPER easy to pirate) that Nintendo are concerned about. Microsoft's reaction seems to imply that piracy was rampant on the 360, so they needed to take drastic action to prevent the same on the Xbox One. Either that, or they want to prevent even the smallest amount of piracy, regardless of how it impacts the other 90% of it's user base. But that would be stupid!

 

As soon as Microsoft said no matter if you're on the internet or not, you can still watch your Blu-Rays and DVDs. Yet you need to be online at least once every 24 hours to play a game, it's clear what their target audience is now. Certainly not gamers.

 

i liked the "but you can play for a whole hour on a friends machine without being online!"

i think the people making decisions over there are too far out of the loop of the common everyday gamer. and maybe people in general.

It is clear Microsoft done many nasty tactics against Sony in the past. I remember IGN used false Need for speed gameplay from PS3 and used it as XBOX360 gameplay to make PS3 version look bad. EA and Microsoft are silly companies. Amount of money should have gone to Charity instead wasting money to make Sony look bad. For example wasting $750,000 to Polygon to make a pathetic review on The last of Us game.

 

You keep posting about this, while there's no proof it actually happened. If MS really were paying them, would they post so many negative articles about the Xbox One?

 

There's nothing wrong with making some exclusive money deals, this is a competitive market after all, but it's pretty obvious that Microsoft have made some huge mistakes this time around and assuming this is true, this just looks like a desperate attempt to weaken the impact of Sony's reveal. If they want my attention they should bring actual content and a system I would want to buy, not steal the attention from the competition because they done goofed.

While I can't proof it but I believe Microsoft did it because of theirs history, to botch things up and screwing around one things to other, I saw the video (which I gave you the link) and I believe it in my point of view. It would be too late If Microsoft w paying to keep negative post out of it because every gaming site got negative opinions about XBOX 1. They can't cover it up that for sure.

Again I can remember in early days in UK when multiplatform game were advertise on TV and magazines and it has XBOX360 logo on it and not PS3 logo. So basically it looks like exclusive to XBOX360 format - which is not. Look like history will repeat again with same old shit.

Microsoft really need to wake up and bring out some proper exclusive games for themselves on XBOX one. XBOX 360 exclusive is weak in my opinion, I still have a working original XBOX360 model because of Project Gotham racing 4. This is the only reason I kept my XBOX360 to this day.

Well, it's not like Microsoft has a strong 1st party line up to compete against Nintendo and Sony. Not surprised they are throwing money around at 3rd parties big time like they did in current generation.

Quite frankly, stuff like this reminds me of WWF vs WCW business, One business screwing other business and WCW put themselves out of business in the end.

 

Why are you so tense over one logo being on an advert and not another and a company paying for games to be exclusive? Do you get as pissy when Sony do the same?

Not really. The Time Warner-AOL merger killed WCW considering AOL were the big boys and didn't see wrestling as being profitable and canned it. But that's a different argument and I wont go into that too much.

So what? If they were really paying Polygon to alter their content, they could at least keep the negative articles off that site.
