    Probably requires a Gold Account.
DLC might not be shared, so if the people that played the shared copy got hooked, they'd buy it.
Friends can try a multiplayer game, but if they want to play as a group, more than one copy would be necessary.

But yeah, it still doesnt make up for a possible 10 lost sales.

Better a SEGA shill than a Sony shill.

My thoughts exactly. Take any game for example, Kingdom Hearts 3, as I mentioned elsewhere me and a friend could essentially just spilt the cost of one game and both get to play, since one person on the family list can play and I can always access my own games. Sounds a little bit like piracy seeing as technically there was only one legal transaction of the game and it's been duplicated and passed on to a second party for free.

Did we mention that even if people are stupid enough to buy the XBOX One, Sony STILL makes money since XBOX One uses Blu Ray.

It's not Sony who gets the royalties but the BluRay Association and they consist of almost 20 companies. The rate might be around $10... and in the rather unlikely case that all royalties are split up evenly right upon receival, that'd be $0.5 per Xbox One for Sony. Still a good profit considering they have good chances to crush the Xbox at the same time as they collect money from them.

Well yeah but Sony is part of it. So they're still making money. Even if Sony loses which is unlikely. Sony still wins.

    But Nintendo...Poor Nintendo...

Who gives a shit? Start listing off any company that mass purchases windows OS. Ooooh, big fucking deal. I want to see the Xbone fail as much as the next guy, but does the fact that Sony gets payed a small cut from MS really turn you on that much?

Not really, it is kind of funny though having to pay royalties to your main competitor.

It's not funny or interesting. Every electronic item has the maker paying money to other companies. It's nothing interesting at all.

Yeah, Apple products use Samsung parts too. There's not a single electronics company that manufactures or holds the patent to everything in their products.

It's just a more convenient way to loan your game to your friends. You can loan to far away friends, you don't have to worry about them scratching or losing the disc, you don't have worry about forgetting who borrowed your game and you don't have to ask for it back, you can take it back whenever you want but it would be polite to ask first. You've been able to loan physical games to as many friends as you like or that disc could be rented/resold hundreds of times. Physical or digital loaning is a potential lost sale but if they really like the game, they might buy their own copy for multiplayer or to support the developers or just so they don't have to share.

Many people seem to think of legit digital loaning as an exploit but for the publishers/MS, it's much more desirable than physical loaning because they can track it and limit it. They wouldn't have added that feature without doing the math.

Of course Microsoft only added that feature because they thought they'd lose way too many customers without it and because this is the first major console transition from offline disc DRM to online digital DRM. Smart phone and PC users have been buying games for years with worse restrictions, it's just the way things are headed. My internet plan has a 150GB/month download limit, so I'm not ready to download many 25GB/50GB games but that will increase eventually and I really like the convenience of not needing a specific disc in the drive to play a game. I've been collecting games for decades and I will always be able to do that for pre 2013 systems but I'm pretty much over it. I'll be happy with more physical space, not needing to wait for games to be snail mailed and not needing to go to a store. The environment would also be happier if it had feels but nature don't give a shit.

If you have the disc in the drive, I don't see why you need to auth once every 24 hours. MS should relax that restriction and make a guarantee that WHEN they shutdown the XBO servers, they will release an update that you can install over USB to remove all restrictions.

I have a PS3, 360 and many other systems and I have no plans to buy a PS4 or an XBO in the next year. I will not pay to play multiplayer on any system.

I'd hate to see what happens when this console gets hacked.
