You assume that Microsoft will have a console after XBOX One.

am I the only one thinking online only distribution = piracy?
when people don't see the physical medium they don't feel the same guilt about stealing since there's no physical thing.... :p

you gotta wonder why DVD as well as BL never took off in S.Korea, arguably one of most highly developed high speed broadband for consumers...

hense the daily checkins and other monitoring le xbox does and im sure sony will have their own system in place for this.

people who would not normally illegally download games may even be driven towards it by over zealous DRM

CD sales are down, but vinyl sales are up. Clearly, retro is the way to go :)

ps: don't fight digital distribution. Without it, most indie games wouldn't be feasible to produce. There's a ton of amazing content out there that could only be released because of digital distribution, and it's not just limited to videogames.

No one is forcing physical media out (quite the opposite, really). Let the market & technology decide how much longer us dinosaurs get to collect our physical media. :)

I'd like to give my grand kid a "download code" for a good game rather than a physical copy of some shovelware title. Unless you're a collector (and I know nearly everyone here is), digital distribution isn't necessarily a bad thing. DRM & daily check-ins are necessarily a bad thing, but those aren't required for digital distribution.

PS4 has the same let a friend on line pick your game up to help you thing the Suckbox One does.

Even Bing thinks the XBOX one sucks

Sales going down is not because of the media itself, it's because there are other means to buy the same thing.

I have nothing against digital distribution. It's a great way for indie companies to show up their work. Sony understood that to the point they'll be able to self-publish those games on PlayStation Store.

Digital distribution is a great way to add content to games on sales (expansion packs that sadly became DLC's like skins and so on). It's a great option to buy games for those who don't care for collecting. An option.

The only complain i have is when companies / people try to shove digital distribution down our throats like a religion and that physical media is dead. Napster became available in 1999, but MP3s were available before that. (Winamp is from 1996 if i'm not mistaken). Here we are in 2013, and we still buy CD's. Less than in 1999? Of course! But that doesn't mean CD's are dead. Some people want to listen to music in something other than an ipod.

Being a Xbox fanboy since the launch of the original console I can say that I will probably move to PS4.

100$ less expensive and no online check-ins are a big plus. Also, I can't help but feel that Xbox is less a hardcore gamer's console anymore. That has been proven during the unveiling of the console right before E3. I want to play games, not browse youtube and facebook using my hands. And I surely don't need an Xbox to watch TV (I don't watch TV anyway).

On top of that, the games that would have spark any interests have changed so much I don't feel any desire to play them. I'm a Halo and Gears of War fan and I must say that after Halo 4 and Gears Of War Judgment, I'm not sure that these franchises are worth choosing an Xbox over a PS4.

IMHO, PS4 is the real gamer's console. Xbox One is a all-around system the whole family can enjoy, even if they don't play video games.

This is really funny... Did you happen to see Destructoid's article basically claiming the opposite with searching for Xbox One on Bing? Who do I believe??? But that's the internet for you....
