Yes, its a stock Seagate hdd.

I have installed a different 80 GB Western Digital hdd on this machine now. Locked no problems.
Still, wondering why I couldn't lock the original hdd?
Will just throw away this hdd.

    Thanks!

See, told you it'd be much simpler.

Who knows why, but as you did lock it to another Xbox, it could be as simple as unlocking it through the Xbox you locked it to originally.

The original disk has no value anyway and is probably riddled with errors..
As hex said it could be that simple or maybe it was a problem with XBHDM. Anyway the important thing is the xbox is working now, right? :D

Haha.... Thanks again for the help fellas!

I have managed to recover my Halo Edition box, and another spare black one. They are both working great again!

I still have one more to fiddle with, this one I know has a back up of EEPROM on it, but I cant unlock it (hdd), so that I can connect it to PC and retrieve the EEPROM file with Xplorer360 app.

I will try to unlock it with the xbox, the hotswap to PC, but how do I proceed from there, to retrieve the eeprom file?

Many thanks to you all for great support!

    EEPROM reader.

You can buy them or make one.

    I see...

If there is no other easier way of doing this, I will take a well earned break from modding my xbox consoles, and use that machine for spare parts.

    Cheers

It's a very good tool to have, saved many Xboxes with one.

That ones a bit pricey but if you aren't confident making one I guess it's worth it..

I have decided to build the EEPROM reader, since is so simple to make.

I have just installed a 320 GB hdd into the halo box, but in unleashX is showing only 123 GB?

Can xbox not detect anything larger than that?

    Thanks

It can, have you formatted the hard disk? You should have extra partitions.

I have done hdd cloning trough chimp. Does that format the drive? Or should have done the formatting on PC first?

In unleashX, I can only see F partition with around 130 gig.

When load auto installer deluxe, and go to file manager, I can see a G partition as well, with around 170 gig. I can install stuff to it fine, but its not vissible in unleashX.

    Cheers

I believe the max should be 137GB and then the other partition gets the rest. Format it through AID but enable both partitions in UnleashX.

    Yea its around that size.

I have some more question guys, I am sorry!

I decided to make a component cable, even though I already own original HD pack.

I used this tutorial, and image is crystal clear.

    http://www.bigmech.com/misc/xbox_ntsc2comp/

Now, the thing is, when using component, I do not get widescreen, is there any chance 480p can be run in wide?

The only way I can make it widescreen, is changing TV settings, but this I think is not the way to go?

For example, I am running Ninja Gaiden, and this game supports 16:9. Does 16:9 only apply when running composite?

Original MS dash, and UnleashX are set to widescreen in options, 480p is set to "YES", 720p and 1080i are set to "NO" since my TV only goes up to 480p.

    Thank you!

16:9 is supported over component. Not all games support 16:9 but Ninja Gaiden is on the supported list. I'd blame your TV.

I have a very good sony wega crt, I think its just the TV settings.

I am using a CRT (pic above).

I had to set the TV Wide mode Setting to "FULL" instead of "Normal", then Ninja Gaiden displays in Widescreen.

I remember that for Gamecube and Wii I had to set it to "FULL" as well, so maybe its the same issue here as well.

    Thank you!
