I found this out trying to prove a friend wrong.......I also found out nintendo are real dicks about hiding the truth on this matter from it's fans.......hence why every single console of theirs has some version of the Original Mario. But now that you mention it I'll have to see what other Laws in Latin America and Europe say on the matter. But if you live in the US......you need need to watch your back unless you're getting GBA roms.
I'm very confused. GBA roms are okay, but downloading of any other roms will result in thugs from Nintendo coming and beating the shit out of you?
I'm with GaijinPunch, I'm afraid that makes absolutely zero sense; GBA ROMs are far more likely to get you in trouble than, say, NES ROMs. Additionally, there are Nintendo machines that haven't had a port of Super Mario Bros, N64, Gamecube, DS, and Virtual Boy for starters. Think a bit more before posting, eh
super mario bros can be found in the n64 version of Dobotsu No Mori as well as the GC version of it (aka Animal Crossing)
Maybe a tenuous definition of a port, since it's a minor bonus, but I'll concede the point. Presumably it's the full game? Is it in the DS version too?
unfortunately the DS version of Animal Crossing does nto include any NES games. The main reason i never bothered with it.
I'm not much of a fan of rum, but I have a few friends who are and they all swear by Sailor Jerry's. It's another spiced one.
I don't feel bad about using emulators for obscure games that I can't purchase legally. There are a lot of old games you just can't find on any "classic" collection disk. But I never download stuff that's available in stores whether it's games, movies or music.
I'm all for emulation myself, there are certain games or variants I'd never have gotten a chance to place without emulation, of course I'm constantly expanding my library of legit. software, but the idea that all those games, all the hard work put into them and memories associated are still widely available for many to enjoy just makes me fuzzy wuzzy inside. upon reading the retro gamer article, something really hit home and that was when it was said that when someone does acquire a really rare game/disc/rom whatever, most 15 year olds who have just downloaded dgen or whatever automatically think they have a right to it - that's just pure theft, I hate that attitude. emulation for love of gaming, preservation of a time during the evolution of video gaming rocks. emulation for lack of commitment, simple means to acquire large amounts of roms purely for a "collection" - the games lose their value imo, and people who collect purely for the sake of it give lovers of games a bad name... makes everyone out to be theiving little maggots. it makes me cry. :crying:
Emulation is good because Way of storing games which might get lost due to media failure over the years. Allows you to play games which may require you to set up a box and a number of cables and if these are in a different country then an emulator is going to be the best way to play that game. Good emulators will allow you to run CD based games directly Allows you to see if the game is going to be worth the $£€ conversely... Emulators are bad People download games and play them without any intention of going out and finding the physical medium, even on this board there are too many threads of "You should play these 10 little known [insert console here] games" and I know I will not see a picture of the box or manual and the people writing the thread are as likely to go out and buy the games as George Bush has of converting to islam. People claim to have collections of thousands when in fact they have collections of units or tens or even zeros... People sell up collections as they can play them via a PC or Xbox and there is no reason to take up room (although this is good in a way as games which were slightly expensive before are now not so expensive) People complain (bitterly) when someone who may have a rare or unique prototype doesn't want to dump it and release it to the frenzy of ungrates. Emulation doesn't emulate the games as best as they could be, an Famicom via composite on a CRT TV still looks better then any emulator could do it.
Sorry, that tickles me! Not a TRUE alchy, then! hehe ;-) I still don't understand why this post is in the rare section. The things people think should go in this forum are getting ridiculous! OMFGZZZZZZZZ - LOOK AT MY RARE SNES ROMZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!111 :-(
