As I said, they sold the tooling. You can't make a product without tooling! They stopped selling it years ago. They were actually quite nice when the Atari community found them, though - and sold them some white cases (sans back).

I'd buy it. I would even offer to test it. We could call it the "Super ASSEMbler Entertainment Multi-System" or SAEMS for short. Another name could be the "Super ASSEMbler Gaming Multi-System" or SAGMS for short.

I wonder what would happen if we combine them all into one super game console.

In all fairness, plastic molds are not cheap, neither is R&D for a brand new shell... this decision does make sense.

Nothing else about it makes sense, though.

Also, I may have missed it, but... what are the hardware specs? If it isn't 68k-based, I have a) lost all interest, and b) they done goofed.

These guys have posted on atari jaguar forums recently. The clear plastic/LE cases already produced by these guys are ostensibly earmarked for current atari jaguar owners who requested them on atariage, selling them to the jag owners will provide a little bit of cash and may garner some interest in the VGS.

Ditto. Also, from what I understand he is actually the only individual from the beginning of humanity to have the initials PSP. So no wonder he's the original!

This is just asinine. Even though lots of indie developers are uninspired hacks who like to make "retro" style games, I won't see a lot of them going for a system with legitimately low-powered hardware. Platforms like the PC allow developers a lot of comfort room in programming to avoid limitations that would mostly be behind-the-scenes for players. You don't exactly see a lot of retro-style indie games suffer from slowdown, sprite-flickering, etc (some plainly obvious limitations for players), because devs can easily overcome those issues with PC hardware, and even with modern game consoles.

    Ditch this bullshit.

*sigh* I just wish I could say that this was the stupidest idea for a Kickstarter I've seen this week. (Sorry, but "non-sexy lingerie" beats this by a mile.)

Nah, it's a Super Mario Bros "clone". Just like the game systems you get at the mall!

    ...?

We've had multiple 8/16 bit indie consoles come out. The Hydra for example. We'll see how this goes.

I gave this too much credit, it's not going to be a cart OUYA, it's likely that it will never happen given his giant ego.
