The Retro VGS team's solution was that they were gonna force developers to only release games that don't have bugs. Seriously.
I have no problem with patches. I just have a problem with day one patches bigger than the actual game. For there to be a new cart based system in 2015 It would have to be a jolly flash back, something with the best of the old and the new and NOT something that is basically a bootleg version of a console that while still a failure was still some how more of a success than this. The Retro VGS was a project born from a bunch of grumpy old gamers that don't understand the new environment of games. I see them all the time on Facebook posting pictures of an SNES saying "Plays now no updates" or shit like that. I get it, But Great games still get made. They're getting few and far between but All three consoles right now have tons of shit worth playing some of which sadly IS download only. There is a company I forget the name that releases download only indie games are flash cards. Do something like that. Put a bunch of indie games on Compact flash cards give them nice boxes and sell them maybe make a cheap docking station for them. Is that too hard to do?
"Having launched just mere days ago, the project garnered next to no interest whatsoever and struggled to raise more than 3% of its $2,000,000 target with less than 200 interested backers." Not gonna lie, that's quite the beautiful sentence.
I'm all for the concept of a truly dedicated gaming platform; I never asked for, nor wanted about 70% of the functionality of PS3/Xbox 360 (largely why I decided not to move on to the current generation of consoles). This particular project, however, just didn't seem to make sense. First of all, there was so much emphasis on it being a cartridge-based console. Personally, I have been gaming since Sega Master System, and I don't really care if my games are on a cartridge or not; as long as I can get a physical copy, I'm happy. So I agree with the whole "tangible" thing, but I'm equally fine with discs. Also, an entire platform solely for "indie games" isn't all that appealing, either. There are some great indie titles, don't get me wrong, but I haven't played many that can be called true classics. It's hard to say exactly what makes a "classic game," but playing an indie title where one or two individuals had absolute creative freedom isn't always a recipe for the most memorable piece of software. Many people can makes games today, but very few can make a classic.
That is about as possible as making something with a Jaguar mold popular. Every game has bugs. Yes, most can be finished despite them (or never triggering them), but even the best ones do. I dunno, I do enjoy quite a few features of the 7th and 8th gen that aren't gaming. I watch over half my Youtube stuff on my PS3, I watched a WWE PPV on my XB1 a couple weeks ago, and I really dig the Dreamcast's CD player. As I said before, cartridges are inherently more expensive to produce than a disc (at this point CDs and DVDs are about as cheap to make, and BDs aren't much more). Even if they can get around the size limitations that the N64 had, and with the fall in price of flash memory, it's not difficult to see size not being an issue, the indie devs have to pay to make a cartridge when paying to press discs is far far cheaper. I would continue but I feel I'm repeating my rant.
I think I watch more You Tube on my PS3 than actually game. The funny thing is some of it are XBOTs ranting. My PS3 is also my Blu ray player and while I don't watch the WWE anymore I do watch Ring of Honor and New Japan through my PS3. Multimedia features in consoles is a feature you never knew you wanted until you have it.
Yeah, I don't play that many games on the PS3, mainly cause of the stupid controller. It and my XB1 are the only Blu Ray players I have, so one of them has to do the thing. I only just got back into the WWE (the last time I followed wrestling I didn't watch the WWF, because I watched WCW, because I'm an old person), but the only other way we could watch Night of Champions was either hooking up my PC to the TV (meh) or paying $55 to Comcast (HAHA, HAHAHAHA, HA, no). Every now and then I'll throw a CD in one of my consoles just because (not the SNES, cause no CD add-on)(also that joke was originally going to be the Genesis, but I have a CD somewhere...).
Retro VGS: You know how everyone hates that all these games have bugs in them? Well, have you tried making games...that DON'T have bugs? Gaming industry:
I'm amazed you sat through Night of Champions. I only watched the opening match and the Divas Match. *shiver* The nice thing about the PS3 is it'll take almost any controller you throw at it. I even played a few games with a GameCube controller.
I was going to joke about Jon Stewart being more likely to win it, but Stewart is actually younger than Sting so lol.
They have fucked up literally every WCW star. I mean, if a guy was big in the WCW, he probably got fucked over.
Exceptions being Ric Flair and Booker T. I'm not watching much WWE anymore, Mostly just Ring of Honor and New Japan. Actually JUST Ring of Honor and New Japan with a dash of AAA when I have time and feel like listening to Spanish.
He wasn't really a star in the WCW, yeah he wrestled for them, but he wasn't a headliner like DDP or Goldberg. Booker T should have gotten a title shot a hell of a lot sooner than he did.
GUESS WHO'S BACK, BAACK AGAIN, RETRO VGS IS BACK, STILL THE SAME! http://toyland.gizmodo.com/old-school-video-game-maker-coleco-is-making-a-new-cart-1748546892
If you still support this clearly mismanaged project you are as much of an idiot as the person who still insists in running that campaign.
