Am I the only person who believes AVATAR is overrated?

What brand of 3D projection is hurting your eyes? Is it IMAX 3D, RealD, Dolby 3D or Xpand? I can sit through a whole movie with almost all the brands and I have tried them all (even obscure technologies that are not in normal theatres). Only IMAX 3D on the gigantic Imax screen makes me a little light headed, but my girlfriend on the other hand can't sit through any movie unless it uses the battery operated Xpand glasses that sync up the refresh rate on the screen within the glasses. There is an actual difference between each of the technologies being used to a certain extent.

It was a CineMax screen. Have absolutely no idea who provides the technology behind their screens.

Are you in India? We don't have the CineMax theatre chain in the USA. I tried looking online at the CineMax website and they have absolutely no information on what type of 3D technology they are using.

If I were to take a guess...

Did the glass lenses have red on one side and blue on the other? If so, this is very old technology and is guaranteed to give you a headache for any extended viewing (i.e. any feature length film).

I read up a little on CineMax and they said they would be "converting 70 screens" to 3D. This is impossible. Many of the above tehnologies I mentioned require special lenses and projectors and may take years for the theatre to pay off the equipment costs. I think they are getting "3D prints" of the film, using it on a traditional projector and then handing out the "red & blue" glasses (ancient technology). I think CineMax is pulling a fast one, because Avatar was not meant to be projected and viewed in this manner.

When I googled it, to make sure I'm not just a pervert, the Urban Dictionary confirms my thoughts.

I saw Avatar and thought it was okay, nothing fantastic. I will admit I haven't seen it in 3D, and I probably never will. Thanks to an eye condition, I have weird depth perception thus causing any simulated 3d to just appear the normal flat.

I can't see those magic eye things either (I once stared at one for so long I popped a blood vessel in my eye)

    You're not a perv, it's a pop culture reference.

What does worry me though, is that you find the phrase Scissor Sistering to be the one that makes me a "bad girl", and not the disturbing and repulsive image of Amy Winehouse and Lady Gaga doing it...

Maybe you are a pervert after all :p

I can't stand those shitty 3D glasses, I usually get a headache during or after a 3D movie and I always have to take an eye-break during the film.

The first 3d movie I saw was U2 3D with the RealD glasses. I had a splitting headache within 15 minutes but forgot about it because the music was so awesome.

The second time I endured RealD during Up, there was no discomfort at all... I don't know if this is my own acclamation or changes being made on the theatre's end (same AMC theatre, different time)
