Am I the only person who believes AVATAR is overrated?

Actually, I didn't mean the racist comment because I would have liked to watch a politically correct movie, I just wanted to state that fact because the bl00 people were REALLY obnoxious to me, and I wondered, why couldn't they put some white guys or some asian ones in the cast as well as black people portraying the bl00 men grouppies.

I don't know, I just found it upsetting, that's all. I am not an advocate for political correctness.. I make sarcastic comments and remarks about many things, including race, death, abortion, tom cruise, etc...

The problem I see here is that this was not intended to be a joke, they chose black actors for who knows what reason, and it's just hypocritical from their part to act like they give a shit about equality afterwards...

 

Maybe it's just a coincidence.

And perhaps there was some logistical reasion, in which case, oh well.

 

Why should it be racist? it's a movie about a war between 2 races, and who and what better to use then people of 2 different races..
And again.. it's a movie! who cares? political correctness is not needed in fictional movies, nor in any kind of movie if you ask me.

And why would you call them obnoxious? if anything that is a 'racist' comment, as that race was the 'nice/nature caring underdog' that got slaughtered by the big bad egoist 'earth' man.
Something like what happened back in the days there were you live with the natives.. were they obnoxious as well because they were different?
Don't get me wrong I am not going there with my last comment it's not a personal stab or me calling you racist, I just think that people that call stuff racist at every possible moment they can, are obnoxious.
Can't we just move on and stop calling everything racist instead of shouting fire everytime we see something that reminds us of the past?

I found the bl00 people obnoxious because they were upsetting me to some level I cannot describe, I actually don't know why I disliked them so much, but I did.

In any case, I was not trying to justify my criticism of the movie by introducing the racial subject. That I did only to comment on it and see if I was alone in the impression that it wasn't all that nice...

The movie sucked because it is basically a remake of Pocahontas with super evolved Smurfs who cry and shout like decaffeinated Chewbaccas.

What if they had cast all native American Indians to play the blue natives? Would that be racist? Was it better in old westerns that they would get white people in black face or dressed as Indians rather than being authentic? I don't see what is wrong with casting people that look the part inorder to make the movie fit the vision of its' creator.

There is supposed to be a clear racial difference between the character sets and if segregating them by real race in order to set them apart in the movie was necessary I do not see how it should be an issue. I Think what is going on here is that you are feeling a bit racist yourself for not liking the blue natives and when you found out they were all black people it weirded you out and made you question your own judgement of them.

I watched a movie last night about inner city car thieving youths.. All of the inner city kids were black and all of the cops were white.. I was neither shocked nor appalled. Sometimes this is just how it works out.

I think what's OVERRATED is people's snob-like attitudes against Avatar.

 

I hated the plot line.. Full of shit, the 3D lacked effect in the middle..
( 3D was great at the start and end, but they saved money in the middle )
