My next gen console probably won't be purchased til 2015. Have enough games on the 360, as well as retro stuff to keep me going. If I had to choose right now between them, I'd choose PS4, but anything can happen in the next year or so.

 

You aren't the only one. More of us side with Japanese games when available.

 

My brother's getting a PS4 and Brother in Law an X1. I'm excited to at least try both of them out, but I have no plans on getting either console at launch for myself. TBH, I've been getting more drawn towards PC lately after hearing how this Gen isn't as powerful as I originally thought. Steam Machine is looking a lot nicer to me but I certainly do plan on getting a PS4 sometime in the future. If Xbox can get their shit together and offer their own exclusives and unique games, then I'll definitely pick one up as well. I'll be at my brothers house 11/15 and then my sisters apt on 11/22. Its a win win for me

 

And yet if a new Killer Instinct, Panzer Dragoon, Forza, Dead Rising and amazing showcase like Ryse were on the PS4 for the lineup people would be claiming it one of the best launches going.

When I think of Meh games I probably couldn't imagine much worse than a new Killzone or something as character devoid and charmless as Knack. If MS are able to sort that lot at launch and Sony are simply going to pull yet another dissapointing launch ala the PS3 then it puts a complete mockery on your console warz tripe.

i think every new console now has a required update on first boot. I dont remember if Wii U was a required update before playing a game or not, I just did the update to get it over with. If the ps4 you can put the disc in right away over the xbox thats definitely a plus but a temporary one anyways.

Wii U is definitely a good alternative this year to sony and microsoft. I just wonder if down the line it will end up like the wii where the graphics were so far behind. I guess it depends on how huge a graphics leap Ps4 and Xbox one is over current gen.

 

The Wii U had a day one update, but it wasn't required. However, if you wanted to try the communities, or download anything from the eShop, or set up your account, you had to do it.

 

Ryse is not amazing showcase. For Xbox One maybe. But Killzone presentation kills it.
Killer Instinct made by sudio with bad reputation +free to play. Crimson Dragon looks okayish at best. Forza - dunno about gameplay, but technically not impressive. Can not say anything about Dead Rising 3 - do not like this type of games.

I think I read somewhere recently that Target is selling the black XL 3DS for cheap (maybe $150?) on Black Friday! It might be an in-store only sort of deal, but nevertheless, that's a pretty decent deal.

 

I got hands on with a PS4 last Friday, it appears to be alright. Love the console design compared to Xbox One. I do have an Xbox 360 and PS3 and mainly game on my Xbox 360 however, due to all the bad press and the Xbox One's hideous design. I ain't even gonna say it. I'm sure the PS4 is also cheaper but I may wait at least 4/5 years to get one when they drop a bit and become slimmer.

I'll be getting an Xbox One on day one. Why? Crimson Dragon. Yukio Futatsugi making a spiritual successor to Panzer Dragoon. That's it. That's all I need. I need no other reason. Yukio Futatsugi >>>>>> every other developer. Of course, I'll also be picking up Dead Rising 3, Ryse, and Killer Instinct, if only because I need more stuff to play on my shiny new toy.

Of course, I'm not sure how much I'll be playing the Xbox One with Nintendo putting out Super Mario 3D World and LoZ: A Link Between Worlds on the same day.

 

Personally, I'm getting both on day one - Xbox One first on the 22nd, then the PS4 when that rolls around on the 29th here in the UK.

Regardless of the Xbone's bad press, lower resolution gaming (which I am sure is just programmer teething troubles with the ESRAM that will improve in a year or so) it simply has several exclusive games that I want to play - infact, IMO, the Xbox One has the strongest launch lineup of titles since the Dreamcast - certainly much stronger than the PS4, which I am basically buying because of Killzone and Resogun.

Then, the Xbox One and PS4 can keep my WiiU company, and maybe their fans can blow the dust off it for me!

 

I will be getting PS4, I enjoyed playing PS1, PS2 and PS3. Sony console are so reliable and better exclusive games in my opinion. I had enough with Microsoft bullshit lately and sure hell I won't be getting XBOXONE, XBOX360 was okay but rarely ever used it since there lack of quality exclusive games. I still have original XBOX360 model without HDMI port.

I had enough of my PC gaming rig. Playstation 4 reminds of Playstation 2 in those glory nostalgia days. I can't wait!

Only later, I live in Brazil and the game industry backstabbed us with these prices, well they can go fuck themselves, I will get an imported one at the gray market. But TBH I think at the least the guys from the college here are trying to get one because OMFG IMMA BUYING AT THE RELEASE DAY.

Sony came up with idea in the first place and Microsoft followed suit, but after seeing the backlash against it decided against making it mandatory. The option is still there for the publishers to lock games to the console.

 

I started looking more into it and it seems you are right since it definitely is in the PS3 ToS and most likly PS2
